Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly still fuming over the fact that former President Barack Obama did not invite them to his controversial 60th birthday party.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex allegedly wanted to be on the guest list, which included close to 600 celebrities and former Obama aides.
However, Barack and Michelle Obama were turned off by the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired in March.
After the royals slammed their relatives publicly, the Obamas opted to distance themselves from the drama. Moreover, some insiders believe that in the royal battle opposing Prince Harry to his family, the Obamas are more likely to stand with Prince William and Queen Elizabeth.
For the political couple, family is paramount, and the Sussexes might have crossed a line when they went after their relatives. The party snub got a lot of attention, and the royals may never forgive the Obamas.
Some observers think the Sussexes are pretty good at holding grudges, and there will be no exception for the Obamas. Royal expert Angela Levin believes this could last a long time.
Mike Graham, a talk show host, stated: “Of course we know they don’t really have any friends and the only friends they do have or that they count as friends are all the people who got invited to Barack Obama’s 60th birthday party. But they didn’t.”
Levin replied: “That’s right. I’m sure they haven’t got over that and won’t for many years.” This is an interesting turn of events for the two couples.
It was previously reported that Mr. Obama had pushed Prince Harry to propose to Meghan Markle when they were dating. Officially, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not regret doing the interview with Winfrey.
However, they are now focused on building a brand that is not based on family feuds and resentment. They are trying to release some projects on Netflix and have adopted a calmer demeanor when it comes to the British royal family.
In the new version of Finding Freedom from Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie, it is revealed that the busy pair is looking for a new direction.
Scobie told Good Morning America: “One of the lessons learned by the couple was it’s ok to slow down. We saw them jump from one big project to the next, especially when they moved over to the US, but they’re on parental leave at the moment, enjoying that important family time from home. But we are about to enter a very busy period for the couple when they do return to work.”
The new tone could be enough to win over some critics.
