Prince William and his family could not spend Christmas with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle.
The heir to the throne, wife Kate Middleton, and their three young children — George, Charlotte, and Louis — traveled to their second home in Norfolk to celebrate the year-end festivities.
At some point, the couple is expected to return to Her Majesty‘s residence, where he will be getting a tell-off.
It has been revealed that the aging monarch will reprimand her grandson for his decision to keep flying his family all over the United Kingdom for personal and private matters via helicopters.
A source revealed to the Daily Mail that Her Majesty is worried for Prince William and his family’s safety.
At the age of 95, Queen Elizabeth is said to be having sleepless nights thinking about Prince William’s desire to pilot a helicopter, which could potentially lead to disaster and alter the line of succession.
A tragic event would make Prince Harry King and Meghan Markle Queen of England.
A source close to Queen Elizabeth told the publication that Her Majesty is haunted by a horrific accident that left one of her beloved pilots dead along with several crew members.
In 1967, the Captain of the Queen’s Flight, Air Commodore John Blount, lost his life while flying a helicopter that crashed near Berkshire. Three other members also perished.
The Queen was so distraught that she refused to board a helicopter for the next ten years.
A royal insider told the British media outlet: “It put her off completely. That’s why she’s so worried about William and his family.”
The news of Elizabeth II getting ready to have words with the Duke of Cambridge when he returns from Norfolk comes one week after it was revealed that she is terrified by the thought of an accident occurring.
The monarch is also petrified that if disaster strikes, it would dramatically change the succession to the throne.
It would be a complicated situation because Prince Harry has shunned and rejected most things linked to the royals and has emigrated to California with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their son, Archie.
A royal insider told The Sun: “Her Majesty has told close friends and courtiers that she would like William to stop flying himself, particularly in bad weather, as helicopters are not the safest form of transport. It keeps the Queen awake at night and she is understandably very worried. She knows William is a capable pilot but does not think it is worth the risk for all five of them to carry on flying together and can’t imagine what would happen. It would spark a constitutional crisis.”
The source added: “The Queen has told William she is worried that, however good he is as a pilot, bad weather and accidents can strike at any time. The Queen is delighted in the way William and Kate have risen to the challenge in recent years and knows the monarchy is safe in their hands. She thinks the future is bright with them at the helm after Charles but if something happened to him and the family, it doesn’t bear thinking about.”
Sometimes Prince William travels via helicopter with a crew and pilot, and other times he gets behind the controls.
Prince William is a skilled pilot who learned how to fly in the Royal Air Force and has worked as a pilot for an Air Ambulance.
