NYPD Rookie Cop, Who Gave Married Boss A Raunchy Lap Dance, Has Surprising Defense

Vera Mekuli Nick McGarry Dance Video Holiday Party

The NYPD is reportedly investigating a Christmas party after Vera Mekuli, a junior cop, was caught on video giving a senior official — later identified as Lt. Nick McGarry — a lap dance.

A group of police officers was attending the end-of-year party for the Bronx Precinct last Thursday. Still, things took a raunchy turn when the female official decided to straddle a senior lieutenant and give him a lap dance.

In two separate videos, Vera Mekuli in a barely-there outfit is seen dancing and grinding on a male lieutenant identified as Lt. Nick McGarry from 44th Precinct.

Vera Mekuli is wearing a black and white mini skirt, a black tank top, and knee-high boots. Lt. McGarry puts his hands on her thighs at one point, and viewers get a glimpse of her black panties during the footage.

One person in the bar shouts, “Oh my god,” as the lap dance is underway, while somebody else passes the lieutenant a handful of cash.

McGarry, who is married and lives with his wife, Melissa McGarry, in New York has already been moved to Transit District 12.

The NYPD has decided to Look into the matter after the moves angered senior management. One police source said that while the junior female officer might not “know any better” because she is so new, the senior officials should know better.

Supervisors are told numerous times not to get frisky with their subordinates, the source revealed, describing it as a “no-no.”

McGarry “knows he f***ed up,” a police source said, while some customers at the restaurant told reporters they were “disgusted.”

However, other customers at Rory Dolan’s bar where the incident happened believed this is exactly what Christmas parties are for and allow people to let loose.

The NYPD is investigating the incident but has not made any further comments.

Vera Mekuli has since apologized to the officer’s wife, Melissa McGarry, for the debacle, and she also blamed sexism for her predicament.

She said: “I feel like just because, mainly — I’m a female, dressed the way I was, being a rookie — things were different. Had it been a man doing it, I feel like it would have been more of a joking matter, and it would have stayed in-house versus go public the way it did with me.”

Mekuli also revealed that her bosses feel bad over what occurred and have allowed her to work from home.

She revealed: “I would love to go back. It’s hard. I feel like there’s just judgment and shame that shouldn’t be there,” she said through tears. “I feel like I shouldn’t be judged, or anything of that sort, because of the lap dance that I did when I was off duty, not in uniform.”

Mekuli, who describes herself as the “life of the party,” joined the New York Police Department in February.
