Recently, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II was diagnosed with COVID-19. Before that, she was unwell and was briefly hospitalized for an undisclosed health issue.
At the age of 95, the illnesses seem to have taken a toll on her, for many reports have surfaced claiming that she has mobility problems.
Her Majesty met with two officials using a walking stick, and she confirmed that it has become difficult for her to walk.
Queen Elizabeth received the outgoing and incoming defense secretaries at Windsor Castle a few weeks ago.
And during the royal engagement, the aging monarch stood in one place and signaled the officials to come close to her.
She eventually confessed to the men: “Oh, I am her.”
She later added, “well, as you can see, I can’t move,” and pointed to her feet.
There is a lot of chatter that Britain’s Queen has been forced to rely on a wheelchair.
It was not known to what extent Elizabeth II has been using the wheelchair, that is, until now.
Actor Christopher Biggins, who is a close friend of the royal family, has recently done an interview and explained that Her Majesty is largely confined to a wheelchair.
He also made the heartbreaking confession that Queen Elizabeth has canceled multiple public engagements because of the wheelchair situation and that “she doesn’t want to be seen, she’s very proud.”
Appearing on GB News, the actor, who has long friendships with multiple royals, said: “I have heard that the reason she’s not doing a lot of the events that she should be doing and canceling them is that she is in a wheelchair.”
He added: “She doesn’t want to be seen. She’s very proud. She’s our greatest ever monarch. It’s so very sad, and I hope she is able to make her anniversary celebrations.”
He went on to reveal that Queen Elizabeth is fearful that she will end up like her late sister, Princess Margaret, who shocked the world when she appeared in a wheelchair at the Queen Mother‘s 101st birthday celebration.
The entertainer revealed that it was “embarrassing” for her.
A Palace source said: “It’s a haunting image and not one the Queen remembers fondly.”
Another royal insider told the Daily Mail: “The optics were terrible. It was supposed to be about the Queen Mother, but all anyone saw was a sadly declining Princess Margaret.”
As the Queen struggles with health issues, she has been forced to slow down and skip a few royal duties.
Last week, the head of state missed the Commonwealth Day service at the Abbey.
However, she has been able to part in virtual events and spoke to a handful of officials via FaceTime.
Her Majesty is expected to make her first appearance using a wheelchair later this month while attending a Thanksgiving Service for her late husband, Prince Philp, at Westminster Abbey.
Royal expert Robert Hardman also appeared on GB news on Wednesday and confirmed that Her Majesty is going through mobility issues and will fight tooth and nail not to be photographed in a wheelchair because of her dignity as the head of state.
He explained: “But, but there is a mobility [issue] inevitably when you’re coming up to your 96th birthday and also dignity, I think it’s terribly important. She is the Queen, and she wants to be seen as the Queen; she wants to look the part.”
The Queen and most members of the royal family and many of Prince Philip‘s friends, colleagues, and dignitaries will attend.
Prince Harry has confirmed that he and Meghan Markle will not be present due to the ongoing security row with the Queen’s government.
