Ariana Grande is as powerful as they come, and she recently demonstrated that by literally breaking the Internet and she is not done.
The “7 rings” singer is believed to be the one who caused a major website to crash. This week, Ariana took to Instagram, where she spoke directly to her 203 million followers about the upcoming presidential election.
The diva reached out to the 21 million people in Florida and urged them to make a plan to register and to vote early because “Florida has the potential of swaying the election.”
Minutes after the former child actress shared the message, there was an impressive surge of traffic on Florida’s voter registration site that caused it to crash.
According to state officials, the website was receiving 1.1 million requests per hour. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that millions of people trying to register to vote received an error message.
The “unprecedented” surge in traffic forced government officials to extend the registration deadline by 24 hours.
Ariana, who does not miss a beat, was aware of the site crashing and had this reaction: “Yikes #VoterSuppression @GovRonDeSantis, please extend registrations.”
Officials have decided to airbrush Ariana from the story and are claiming that it was a technical glitch with this statement from Gov. Ron DeSantis: “You can have the best site in the world, but sometimes there are hiccups on it.”
Secretary of State Laurel Lee confirmed that the spike was not linked to a cyberattack via the following statement: “At this time, we have not identified any evidence of interference or malicious activity impacting the site. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide any additional information as it develops.”
The 27-year-old pop star has returned to social media with a sweet selfie, and once more, she is using her platform to get out the vote.
The “God is a woman” singer dropped a flawless photo with this caption hinting at a big announcement soon: “Turning in these mixes and reminding u again to register to vote if u haven’t already / to vote early.”
The post received more than 4 million views and over 35 thousand comments. A supporter had this to say: “Ariana grande for president wbk.”
Another backer revealed: “Thank u so much for always using your platform for good! We truly appreciate u so much. Vote, vote, vote.”
