After King Charles III was proclaimed the new Sovereign of the UK, he delivered his first speech to the nation laying out his plans for the Monarchy.
King Charles paid tribute to his “dear mama,” Queen Elizabeth II, for her 70 years of dignified service to the British people.
He made it clear that his older son, Prince William, heir to the throne, and his wife, Kate Middleton, would play more significant roles under his reign.
To everyone’s surprise, King Charles brought up his renegade son, Prince Harry, and his American wife, Meghan Markle.
The King spoke about his love for Prince Harry and Markle and took the opportunity to remind his worldwide audience that they made a choice to quit their royal duties and are now living overseas.
A close source to King Charles revealed that the unrestrained moment and comment during the speech was a clear message that he does not want them to disrupt his reign by visiting London very often for mini royal tours and charitable events.
A source, a former Buckingham Palace staffer, told The Daily Beast that: “King Charles’ accession statement, in which he encouraged his son and Meghan to “continue to build their lives overseas,” was an undisguised message to them to not disrupt his reign by making frequent trips to the UK.”
The source went on to reveal that Prince Harry and Markle should be aware that King Charles will be ruthless about protecting his reign and the Monarchy from scandals and controversies.
The insider shared the following with The Daily Beast: “Charles will be ruthless when it comes to protecting the Crown, and that means keeping Harry and Meghan as far from the center of gravity as possible.”
True Royalty TV‘s Nick Bullen told Fox News that King Charles’s message also implies that he does not plan to reach out to Prince Harry and Markle during his reign.
The royal expert shared: “The King’s message in his first speech was clear – he loves Meghan and Harry – but he was also clear that they’ve chosen a different life. They’ve chosen to grow their life overseas, in the States. He acknowledged that. His olive branch was simply, ‘I love you; you are very much a member of the royal family,’ as the queen said several years ago. But also made it clear – ‘You’ve made your decision on what you want to do, and I support you in that, but that’s your decision.'”
The new reign seems to build on the previous one, the power couple is out of favor.
