Kate Middleton made her stunning return to public life today for King Charles III‘s birthday parade, also known as the Trooping the Colour ceremony, but Prince William is the one dominating on social media.
In a white dress and matching hat, Middleton stole the show as she arrived in a carriage to Buckingham Palace.
Princess Kate, beaming from ear to ear, was accompanied by her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Middleton had her hands full with Prince Louis, who was yawning, pulling a curtain, and talking back to his older sister, who asked him to behave.
However, Prince William captured the media at the event. Prince William’s demeanor at the event has sparked some speculation. Some have noted his overly reserved behavior and lack of public displays of affection towards his wife, Kate Middleton.
Many have taken to social media to say that they are baffled by the fact that Prince William is not more affectionate towards his spouse, who is battling cancer.
Observers have noted a particular seating arrangement during the event. The couple often positioned their eldest son, Prince George, between them, a move that some interpret as a way to maintain a neutral space and avoid any potential rumor. Middleton was aware of the backlash that was coming toward her husband.
Before the ceremony, Middleton shared a new photo and a heartfelt message. She expressed her gratitude for the support and explained that her husband had been by her side during her ongoing health battles, which she has been bravely fighting.
She wrote: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It has made a world of difference to William and me and helped us both through some of the harder times.”
She added: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
She concluded by saying: “My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, and start to do a little work from home. I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.”
Many have defended Prince William by saying that he is being careful not to touch his wife, who has a weak immune system because of her illness. Others say he respects the royal protocol of no PDA.
