After King Charles III delivered his first speech to the British people as their new Monarch, he received rousing applause on social media for his tone and some of the issues he underlined.
His Majesty went out of his way to speak directly and show respect to all groups, regardless of their skin color, background, or religion.
King Charles promised to serve everyone while being thoughtful of the time we live in. The Sovereign, who has embraced inclusiveness, said in part: “And wherever you may live in the United Kingdom, or the Realms and territories across the world and whatever may be your background or beliefs, I shall endeavor to serve you with loyalty, respect, and love, as I have throughout my life.”
Many royal observers quickly said that they felt King Charles, whether consciously or not, was influenced by his son, Prince Harry, and daughter-in-law Meghan Markle.
Since moving to California, the woke pair has been very vocal in addressing police brutality in America and bluntly talking about slavery in England.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have spotlighted women and race-related issues and asked political leaders to step up and address them.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s influence and loud demands for diversity and acceptance seem to trickle down to the coronation ceremony.
On May 6, Markle and Prince Harry might attend or stay home to celebrate Archie‘s (who could be Prince Archie by then) birthday.
However, according to reliable sources, who shared preparation details about King Charles’s coronation, whether Prince Harry and Markle attend, their presence will be felt that day.
Royal commentator Hannah Furness revealed in The Telegraph that King Charles has the experience to navigate the culture wars that could blow in his face if he disrespects any group.
She wrote: “He could be blighted by a Coronation for the age of the culture wars… But there are few people more capable of navigating it.”
A person, who is taking part in planning the historical event, told The Telegraph that King Charles is expected to be mindful of the post-colonial sentiment and added: “Everyone involved in planning this will be looking out for bear traps. They will be aware of what it all looks like. Anything with deep historical and religious significance will be incorporated, but nothing else is on or off the table.”
A second insider said: “The ceremony had deliberately been kept quite unplanned to ensure it can best reflect the climate at the time at which it happens. There will be people in the Palace who are acutely aware of wanting to reflect tradition whilst being sensitive to the issues around today. The general culture of pomp and circumstance which surrounds a coronation will need to be in tune with the times.”
Another source from Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort, are much more sensitive to political correctness, optics, and appearances, which is why plans for the controversial Koh-i-noor diamond crown to be featured in the coronation have been axed.
The Queen Consort was supposed to wear the estimated $1 billion diamond-encrusted crown at the ceremony.
The massive diamond, which was seized by the East India Company and given to Queen Victoria in the 19th century, has been a thorny issue.
Many Indians say it was stolen and should be returned to the country.
William Dalrymple, co-author of Koh-i-Noor: The History of the World’s Most Infamous Diamond, told The Daily Mail it will bring back the whole weight of colonization to the forefront and is “a massive diplomatic grenade.”
Along with Prince Harry and Markle’s constant push for change, King Charles had no choice but to accept the signs of the time after Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s disastrous Caribbean tour.
Earlier this year, Prince William and Middleton, for the first time, faced protestors who loudly spoke of slavery and colonialism.
The thoughtfulness and respect that are being incorporated into the preparations for the coronation ceremony are already a major win for Prince Harry and his wife, who are working to make the world a better place.
