It is the era of royals gone wild; Kate Middleton cannot stop touching and slapping Prince William‘s bum in public, and Meghan Markle is not afraid to kiss Prince Harry and wipe the lipstick off with her fingers.
And now the world is discovering what goes on or does not go on in King Charles III and Queen Camilla‘s private bedrooms.
King Charles and Queen Camilla’s sleeping arrangements have been revealed. A piece that was posted on Express revealed that King Charles and his spouse often sleep in separate bedrooms.
Expect His Majesties to remain unfazed by the leak of this news because they have weathered bigger and more salacious scandals like tampongate.
The media outlet claimed the decision is great for their marriage and King Charles’s health, according to a royal source.
King Charles and his Queen own and live in many mansions and palaces, but their main residences are Clarence House and their country home, Highgrove.
In these two homes, His Majesty and Queen Camilla have three bedrooms: one for King Charles, another for Queen Camilla, and the last one for the times when they decide to sleep in the same bed.
By having separate bedrooms, the duo has been able to protect their sanity and mental health and, therefore, save their marriage.
King Charles suffers from chronic back pain and needs to sleep alone to ease the pain.
A royal source shared: “[His Royal Highness] has a room with a double bed, decorated to his own taste, and Camilla has her own room with a double bed, decorated just the way she likes it. In addition, they have a shared bedroom with a double bed that they can use whenever they like. The arrangement suits them perfectly.”
It has also been revealed that Queen Camilla has a private residence, Ray Mill House, in Wiltshire, that she purchased after her divorce from Andrew Parker Bowles.
The former couple shares children Tom and Laura and five grandchildren. Reports claimed that King Charles loathes the home, and therefore Queen Camilla goes there alone or to be with her children and grandchildren.
In a recent interview, Queen Camilla, in her own words, revealed that King Charles is a workaholic, and sometimes they do not see each other.
She told British Vogue: “Sometimes it’s like ships passing in the night, but we always sit down together and have a cup of tea and discuss the day. We have a moment. It’s lovely to catch up when we have a bit of time. You know when we go away, the nicest thing is that we actually sit and read our books in different corners of the same room.”
It is worth noting that King Charles and his wife are not the only royals using this unexpected sleeping arrangement.
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip also had separate bedrooms. It is claimed that Prince Philip has his own apartments at Buckingham Palace.
Kate Middleton and Prince William also had their own wings when they were at Kensington Palace.
