Lana Del Rey has decided to shake the Internet up with a huge announcement. She also landed in trouble by name dropping some of the most prominent female singers in the industry, including Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Kehlani, and Nicki Minaj.
The “Summertime Sadness” singer revealed in a lengthy post that she would release her new album on September 5. The project is the follow-up to 2019’s Norman F*cking Rockwell.
Lana said it is time for her critics to let her be because she is tired of being bashed for “glamorizing abuse” when all she does is sing about what women are feeling.
The “National Anthem” artist said that she is fed up with other females claiming that she is anti-feminist, or she is setting women back with some of the topics she tackles in her music.
Lana also claimed that, now, Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani, and Beyoncé have all landed on top of charts with songs about being sey, wearing no clothes, fcking, cheating, she should be allowed to sing about whatever she wants.
Her post said in part: “… that I glamourize abuse when I am just a glamorous person singing about realities…” this is so authentic and true ?? your vulnerability and brutal honesty in lyrics has helped me and many others to accept their choices and mistakes in a time where nobody sang about these things. I am eternally grateful that you never stopped doing that. I can’t wait for the albums, and I already have goosebumps when I think of it. ❤️”
A fan, who appreciated what Lana said, made this remark: “Well said. I feel anytime someone brings something different to the table and does not conform to commercial or societal standards, and there is always backlash and criticism. I think people are so conditioned to absorb what is put in front of their faces that any new ideas are scary and instantly shut down. I applaud and appreciate you for being authentic in your records, as there are definitely those out there that your music deeply touches. Very excited for this next chapter. Since the first time I heard your music up until now, I still feel there is no other musician like you, at least that can capture my essence and envelop me with your words the way you’ve done all this time.???”
Another music lover shared her support for the New York-born musician: “I love you for being so honest and open and not being afraid to speak your mind! Continue being you, millions of people love you and relate to you. You’ve saved me through ur music and has inspired me and made me who I am today, and I thank u a million times for that.?”
However, many of Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani, and Beyoncé’s fans have been slamming Lana on Twitter and Instagram for her words.
A critic slammed the artist with this message: “Lana has been bringing the same sh*t over and over again, and only NOWW wants to talk about it? Not to mention the degradation of female women of color. Absolute trash. this is just for hype for an album that will literally sound like all the others.”
This controversy has been a trending topic on social media.
