It is claimed that during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s recent trip to London, they were left red-faced with embarrassment in many instances.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have denied one of the so-called humiliating reports involving Queen Elizabeth II.
They were booed by the British people and were snubbed by Prince William and Kate Middleton during the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.
However, many royal experts say that the most painful blow dealt to Prince Harry and Markle came from Queen Elizabeth.
According to royal sources who spoke to The Sun, Prince Harry and Markle were eager for Her Majesty and her great-granddaughter, Lilibet Diana, to finally have their first face-to-face meeting at Windsor Castle.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter was introduced to Queen Elizabeth on June 2, just two days before her first birthday.
The self-exiled couple was accompanied by a friend and renowned photographer, who was supposed to capture the joyous moment on camera.
It is claimed that Queen Elizabeth or the men in suits around her said, “no chance,” of Lilibet getting that memorable and historical picture.
A royal insider told The Sun: “Harry and Megan wanted their photographer to capture the moment Lilibet met the Queen. But they were told no chance. It was a private family meeting.”
It is claimed that the photo ban was put in place because the royal family reportedly feared that pictures of the Queen and Lilibet would be rapidly leaked to American TV networks or be used on the couple’s Netflix series/documentaries.
The story made headlines after the Platinum Jubilee celebrations were over, with one royal expert saying it was a hard pill for Markle and Prince Harry to swallow.
Another claimed that it was shameful that Queen Elizabeth broke the royal tradition of taking photos with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Royal biographer Christopher Andersen said the photo ban must have been a tough moment for Prince Harry and his wife and pointed to the Queen keeping the longstanding tradition by meeting and posing for pictures with their son, Archie.
Archie was introduced to the Sovereign just two days after his birth in 2019.
Andersen, the author of Brothers and Wives, said during an appearance on Royally US: “We now know that the Queen, well, the men in grey who really handle things, would not permit the Queen’s photograph to be taken with Lilibet.”
The commentator continued: “That spoke volumes, and it was a really bitter pill for Meghan and Harry to swallow. You have to remember that Archie was photographed with the Queen, and Prince Philip, and Doria Ragland when he was two days old. It’s a tradition to be photographed with the monarch when you’re a grandchild or a great-grandchild. But this was a really different feeling.”
Reacting to the picture drama, ITV presenter and royal expert Lorraine Kelly said it was a shame that Her Majesty made such a decision and explained: “That little cutie pie is baby Lilibet. Meghan and Harry released new pictures of their daughter after celebrating her first birthday last week. Reports are suggesting she asked Harry and Meghan not to take pictures of the meeting, which is a great shame. I’m sure they’ve got private ones, though, because you’d have to have that, wouldn’t you?”
The Sussexes have decided to deny the shameful story. A person close to the renegade royals told Page Six that they never asked the Queen for a photo because she was not well.
The source explained: “They just enjoyed a private and intimate visit with the Queen.” The media outlet continued, “adding that Harry and Markle didn’t even bother asking for photos as the 96-year-old monarch wasn’t feeling well.”
The family friend confirmed that Lilibet met the Queen twice, on June 2 and 3rd.
Prince Harry and Markle have since released two pictures of Lilibet having fun on her birthday.
