Meghan Markle is facing a big problem that she might have brought her way by getting too deep and too personal about her family in her interviews and series.
This week, while Meghan Markle was living her best life in Las Vegas with her billionaire pals, her half-sister was in Florida, dragging her to court and setting up what might be a nasty battle.
Samantha Markle has decided to sue the Duchess of Sussex for defamation and is demanding $75,000.
The wheelchair-bound 58-year-old woman is going to court to prove that Prince Harry‘s wife made “demonstrably false and malicious statements” about her during her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
With Prince Harry by her side, Markle said that she grew up as an only child. Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland only have one child — Meghan Markle.
As for Thomas Markle, he has two older children — Thomas Wayne Markle Jr. and Samantha Markle — from a previous relationship.
Samantha Markle claimed that Meghan Markle’s comments subjected her to “humiliation and hatred.” The case brought by Samantha Markle was dismissed earlier this year because US District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell deemed that Meghan Markle’s opinions were “not capable of being proved false.”
Samantha Markle has once again presented the case in front of Judge Honeywell, who is expected to make a decision on whether to proceed to trial in the coming weeks.
Samantha Markle appeared in front of the courtroom, where she told The Sun that she believes that she will win.
Weighing the possibility that the lawsuit will proceed, royal expert Neil Sean revealed that it could be a huge problem for Meghan Markle, who has big plans for her future.
The journalist said the drama that the lawsuit could cause could lead WME, the agency that Markle signed with, to hit pause on some of the big projects she has lined up.
He revealed: “There is a big problem now for the William Morris Agency, and as ever, we have to say allegedly. As you know, Megan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, pushed ahead with her case.”
He went on to reveal why it could get dicey for Markle, saying: “In simplistic terms, it’s very, very difficult because, as you know, Samantha Markle lost the first time around when she tried to go down a similar route and used the book Finding Freedom. What is interesting now is that Samantha, of course, is basing her case on things like the Netflix documentary series, which, of course, does belong to Megan Markle. The things she spoke about on Oprah Winfrey and, of course, the docu-series for Netflix have left a different door wide open for Samantha.”
During the trial, Markle could be in an embarrassing situation where private emails, text messages, receipts for university payments, and other documents are shared in court and eventually leaked in the media.
The writer explained: “Now, what happens in the next month is a situation called discovery, and you know the judge has taken time out to think about this particular case. If it goes forward at the end or maybe the middle, I should assume, of next month, then by early January, Megan has to put forward documents and text all sorts of litigation stuff that she simply will not want to delve into.”
He predicted that the situation could get messy and added: “You know to prove certain things, like that you know her father, who didn’t pay for the education. Samantha’s side claims they do have those receipts, and they can prove that Megan has to prove otherwise. It could get incredibly messy.”
He concluded by: “I said at the very start that this is now the problem for the William Morris agency. How can you market someone as a wholesome family sort of person when these sorts of things are dragging on? But the bigger problem now is that if this pushes ahead into the new year, it is going to be catastrophic.”
Markle probably regrets sharing certain details with the world now that she is dealing with this thorny and potentially embarrassing situation.
