Dax Shepard Leaves Some People Angry And Uncomfortable For Saying This About The Daughters He Shares With Kristen Bell

Dax Shepard Kristen Bell Children Spoiled

While it might not have been his intention, Dax Shepard‘s conversation about parenthood went from awkward to uncomfortable very fast.

The actor and his wife recently sat down for an interview on the Endless Honeymoon podcast. Shepard explained why he and his spouse, Kristen Bell, decided to have children.

Dax Shepard made a statement that has the internet rolling its eye. He said that he and Belle did not want a second child.

Many parents are upset by that confession because they believe a comment like that should not have been made public. After all, it will hurt the child later in life.

The actor claimed that he and Belle opted to have their second daughter because they realized their first child needed company.

The couple shares two daughters, Lincoln, 9, and Delta, 7.

Via Yahoo, he shared the following details behind the decision to have Delta saying: “We did not want a second child. It’s a bizarre conversation to start because [a family unit of three] is perfect, and it’s so much easier. You can take that little Subway sandwich anywhere, as I’m sure you guys are doing.”

The comedian went on to say that he and his spouse realized that they wanted Lincoln to have a friend for life.

The Parenthood alum stated: “One is, we travel a lot, and it’s not fair to bring this little human everywhere we go and deal only with adults. Like, we owe it to her to give her a playmate that travels with us everywhere. We love [Lincoln] enough to do something we don’t really wanna do, which is have a second because we were so absolutely happy with just the one.”

The filmmaker and podcast host rattled many feathers by saying it was ideal to grow the family because he did not want his nine-year-old daughter, Lincoln, to be a spoiled bitch.

The father of two stated: “Our kids already are so privileged beyond belief. It rattles both of us, being from very, you know, modest backgrounds. So, to make the spoiled bitch, my firstborn, live in the same room with another person [when she gets older] and have to share everything, like, I needed [Lincoln to learn] the force of compromise and sharing discomfort because I wasn’t going to give it to her any other way. So we just thought it would be really helpful to make her a better person, to have to deal with someone else.”

The Bless This Mess star concluded on a lighter note by saying that his daughters often ganged up on him and added: “Our kids are under two years apart, and for a minute, that was difficult because, you know, when you’re five and the baby is 3, that’s no fun. I will say the corner we’ve turned is, like, now they party. Not only do they party together, they’re united against us, which I love.”

He also shared: “If I’m giving it to one of the girls, the other one comes over, ‘You’re not being nice to Lincoln. You didn’t listen to what she said.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s right. That’s your role. You guys gang up and kill me. It’s you two against the world.’ That stuff, I think, the lesser the age gap, the easier it is to achieve.”

The couple has always been very open with their feelings.
