As a mother, Kate Middleton had one of the hardest and most emotional decisions to make, and she got the help of her oldest son, Prince George, to do it.
For the past few years, Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, have found themselves butting heads over Prince George’s education.
He might be only 10 years old, but one day, little George will be the King of England. The decision was supposed to be simple; like all kings and queens before him, Prince George had to go to a boarding school.
The best school in England, Eton College, the one that was attended by Prince William and Prince Harry, was selected for the child.
Prince Harry confessed that he was miserable at the school. King Charles III did not have a great experience at the boarding school he went to in Scotland; he said that he was bullied for his ears.
Prince William claimed that his time at Eton formedb and prepared him to be a leader and statesman. Middleton, who was also bullied at one of her boarding schools, wanted to shield her son and fought hard and long for him to attend Marlborough, a coed school.
Middleton wanted her son to be with young boys and girls and be exposed to diverse races and cultures.
Prince William often clashed with his wife because he, along with The Firm believed that Eton, an all-boys private school, was the appropriate option for the young heir.
A source told Touch Weekly: “Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition. Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernize the monarchy. Plus, she’ll miss George desperately. She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won.”
After all has been said and done, Prince George will head to Eton because he wants to. The person went on to explain why Prince George made that decision for his parents: “He wants to be just like his father; William has regaled him with stories about his five years at the nearly $60,000-a-year school, where he was captain of the swimming team and his house football squad and was also elected a prefect in the ultra-exclusive Eton Society, nicknamed the Pop. (Harry, who didn’t enjoy his time there nearly as much, recently recounted how hurt he was when his popular big brother told him to “pretend we don’t know each other” at school.)
The source shared that Middleton has accepted her son’s wishes, but she is still heartbroken by them.
The insider claimed: “Acknowledging George’s wishes, Kate finally gave in. But she’s still heartbroken. She was horribly bullied at her first boarding school, and she can’t bear the thought of George suffering through that.”
The future Queen is grateful that George will return home often and spend time with his siblings, but she is already gearing up for another fight with her husband, who will demand all three children attend Eton.
The source added: “At least they’ll still have some family time, and he can bond with his siblings, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. But it still seems as if her family is being torn apart. There’s also the worry that William will insist the other two kids be shipped off next. Kate knows this is all part of her ‘royal duty,’ but there’s a lot of tension between her and her husband right now.”
Middleton faces a lot of different voices when it comes to the future King.
