Argentinian soccer sensation Marcos Rojo and his family have decided that they are not taking any chances and have expeditiously left the hotel in the Dominican Republic where they were staying.

Rojo, who plays for Manchester United, had been vacationing at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana when he learned that one American tourist — Robert Bell Wallace — had died at the hotel.

As we previously reported, at least six Americans holidaying on the Caribbean island had passed away under mysterious circumstances.

The Manchester United defender and his wife, Eugenia Lusardo, were at the luxury resort for a few days when on Tuesday he learned about the death of Wallace.

Mr. Rojo and his loved ones were forced to pack their belongings and flee the hotel. The clan left Punta Cana and planned to vacation elsewhere — it is not known if they are still on the island.

Just hours before the move, both Rojo and his spouse were happily sharing fun pictures taken poolside at the resort.

A source close to the athlete explained the following to the Daily Mail: “He is just being cautious. He doesn’t wish to take any chances.”

Mr. Wallace, who was on the island for a wedding, became ill after drinking a whiskey from the hotel’s minibar on April 11. The California man was rushed to a nearby hospital and died a few days later.

Family members have confirmed that Miranda Schaup-Werner also died after a brief stay on the island. The 41-year-old woman from Pennsylvania died on May 25 after getting a beverage from the minibar at the Bahia Principe La Romana.

A couple from Maryland, Edward Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Day, 49, who were celebrating their engagement, were also found dead at the Bahia Principe La Romana.

In a statement issued by Dominican authorities, they claimed the tourists died of natural causes.

Awilda Montes, who survived the Dominican Republic horror, has returned to her home in New York where she spoke to local media and explained that the 7-Up she drank at the Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville resort was “spiked.”

Montes believes the soda contained bleach and she vomited blood after drinking it.

The US State Department told Fox News: “We can confirm the death of a US citizen in April 2019 in the Dominican Republic. We offer our sincerest condolences to the family for their loss. Out of respect for the family during this difficult time, we do not have additional information to provide.”

Rojo’s move has sparked a lot of reactions on social media.
