Meghan Markle‘s close friend and professional athlete, Nacho Figueras, is discovering the hefty price to pay when he entangles himself with some of the outlandish decisions put forward by the former actress.
As the countdown for Princess Kate‘s big return started, so did the betting that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would do something wild to capture the media.
Markle did not fail. Some say that she outdid herself. Moments before Kate Middleton made her grand entrance to Buckingham Palace to celebrate Trooping the Colour like clockwork, Markle and Prince Harry’s pal, Nacho Figueras, took to social media and unveiled two new products from American Riviera Orchard.
He uploaded images showing a new raspberry jam and dog biscuits, the latest additions to the product line of The Duchess of Sussex‘s ARO company.
Via social media, the public’s outcry was deafening, with thousands slamming the timing of his post and calling him out for threatening to overshadow The King‘s Birthday Parade.
Royal expert and commentator Kinsey Schofield, who saw the disastrous PR move coming, said Markle authorized the post and added: “Uh, some of us predicted. Over a week ago, I predicted that Meghan would launch something, and something would come up. You know Harry and Meghan burn lots of bridges. You don’t go posting a gift from Meghan Markle without permission from Meghan Markle. Nacho, who had permission from Harry and Meghan to post this, received this gift from Meghan, and it seemed really kind of city and unnecessary to do it right when we had Catherine‘s significant return.”
Another royal journalist claimed the decision was destructive and would hurt the athlete’s spotless image as a family man and philanthropist.
Talking to The Mirror, royal author Richard Fitzwilliams said it was a naive and calculated move to roll out the products over the weekend.
He also had this comment on the messy unveiling: “To do this on the same day as Trooping the Colour shows a very naive approach to marketing as they know journalists keep an eye on what they do.”
He added that Markle needs to be more clever and adventurous than this to succeed in business. He claimed: “Harry’s polo-playing friend posted that he’d received jam and dog biscuits and posted photos. Cynics might say the raspberry sums up Sussex’s destructive attitude toward the Royal Family rather well, but on the jar, it said two of two. If she wants her brand to succeed, Meghan better be more adventurous than this!”
The Sussex brands needs more revamping.
