The mother of two called her husband cheap for his refusal to accept pricey gifts.
She further joked: “He just doesn’t do much. He golfs, and there’s only so many golf clubs you could get a dude. I already got the clubs; I can’t get him another golf shirt. He’s really hard, and he doesn’t want anything. I’m trying to get him clothes that he wouldn’t buy, you know because he’s also cheap.”
She revealed what Mr. Obama told her after she gifted him an expensive jacket: “Why’d you spend this much on a jacket? I was like, “That’s what a gift is.”‘
Michelle Obama went on to explain that she organized the gift-giving without any help from her spouse. She confessed: “I’m the one who organizes all the gift-giving. I make sure that all the kids we know are covered; I’ve got my list. I’m the one that makes Christmas happen.”
Michelle Obama concluded by revealing that one of the main reasons she fell in love with Barack Obama was that he is from the sunny and idyllic state of Hawaii.
According to the former first lady, his place of birth convinced her to accept his marriage proposal.
She claimed: “You know my husband grew up in Hawaii – one of the reasons why I married him…I was like, “OK, is this where Christmas is going to be?”
Many saw the humor in Michelle Obama’s interview. Others lamented that the media would have had a field day if Jill Biden or Melania Trump had spoken about their respective spouses similarly.
The Obamas seem to have put politics aside for now after the November loss of their party against former President Donald Trump.
