In a shocking twist, Chris Watts has confessed to police in Frederick, Colorado to killing his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, and their two daughters — Bella and Celeste.
The news of Watts being the alleged killer came as a shock because he was on live television just hours before his arrest and he made a passionate plea about finding his missing wife who was 15 weeks pregnant with her third child and their two daughters.
According to local media and law enforcement sources, Watts has been arrested, and they are hoping to find the bodies of the mother and her daughters soon.
Watts told the police that they had an emotional conversation the day she went missing. However, when asked to give more details, he declined.
Authorities including the FBI and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation revealed the trio went missing on Tuesday.
Watts spun the tale of lies to the police by claiming that his wife went missing on Monday just hours after she returned home from a business trip.
The married father of three said his wife told him that she was planning to visit a pal nearby with the little girls.
The alleged murderer said he rushed home after calling her several times throughout the day and she did not answer.
According to the man, Shanann’s car was still in the driveway, and her phone and wallet were found in the home.
He told the media: “When I got home yesterday, it was like a ghost town. I was trying to get home as fast as I can, I was blowing through stop lights, I was blowing through everything just trying to get back as soon as I can because of none of this made sense.”
He added: “I don’t feel like this is even real right now. It’s like a nightmare I can’t wake up from.”
Close friends say that the family had looked happy.
