King Charles III, as a caring grandfather, can foretell the potential problems that will arise with his American/British grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
While Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, might overlook the needs of their children to connect with their royal relatives, the reality is that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will inevitably grow up with questions about their place in the Royal Family.
This week, Princess Lilibet celebrated her third birthday, with sources revealing that Prince Harry and Markle had a small gathering at their Montecito home.
Close family and friends surrounded the little girl during her special day. There was no mention of King Charles or Prince William being included in the special gathering.
Lilibet’s milestone led one royal expert to ponder the problematic situation in which the toddler and her brother are growing up.
Talking to The Sun, royal author Phil Dampier revealed it will be “fascinating to see those kids grow up,” but they will also start asking about the perceived disconnect between members of the British family, such as King Charles and Prince William, and the monarchy, which they are a part of as seventh and eighth in line to the throne.
He added: “When they get a bit older, are they going to start asking questions ‘How have we got to this situation?’, ‘How is it I don’t see my grandparents?’, ‘How is it I don’t have anything to do with the Royal Family?”
He explained that it would become a significant problem for the Sussex children as they try to solve the mystery surrounding their relatively great divide.
Dampier claimed: “When they get old, that’s probably when the problem will start, and it will be difficult for them.”
He said: “It is fantastic that she’s already three, but there is this underlying sadness, of course, because of the rift that the King is not seeing his grandchildren. I think he’s only met Lilibet possibly once, and Archie only a couple of times, and they are seventh and eighth in line to the throne, growing up in California on the West Coast of America with American accents, and they just don’t see them.”
The King has taken measures to resolve the problem surrounding his grandchildren by inviting the family to Balmoral for the summer.
Royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror that King Charles would extend an invitation to the couple, but sadly, there is little hope they would accept.
He stated: “King Charles will issue the traditional invitation to Harry and Meghan to spend part of the summer at Balmoral, but safe in the knowledge that Harry and Meghan will make their excuses and decline.”
Quinn also gave the bizarre reason why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would decline an invitation to Balmoral by saying: “Meghan and Harry feel that turning up at Balmoral will put them on the back foot as it’s very much Royal Home turf. And Meghan won’t want to go back on her public insistence that she will never return to the UK – she’ll only do it if she gets the apology she has always demanded, unless something really dreadful happens, either King Charles or Kate becomes gravely ill or even dies. If that happens, all bets are off.”
It will take a lot of changes for the two sides to really compromise.
