Nikki Haley’s Resignation As Donald Trump’s UN Ambassador Sparks Speculation — 2020? 2024? Curtains? Pricey Flights?

Nikki Haley Donald Trump Resignation

Outgoing UN Ambassador Nikki Haley has made it clear that she is not planning on running for president in 2020. Instead, she intends to campaign hard for President Donald Trump‘s reelection.

The shocking resignation of one of the most popular figures in the Trump administration surprised many players as the president and his Republicans allies were getting ready to take a victory lap over the confirmation of new Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States Brett Kavanaugh.

Things never get boring in Washington these days, and news cycles have never been so short. Despite the speculations around Haley’s exit, the former South Carolina governor appeared to be very close to Trump who could not stop praising her.

The New York billionaire shared: “She’s done a fantastic job, and we have done a fantastic job together. We have solved a lot of problems, and we’re in the process of solving a lot of problems. At the beginning, North Korea was a massive problem, and now we’re moving along. It’s moving along really nicely.”

Haley was also very proud what this administration has accomplished. She stated: “Look at the two years, look at what has happened in two years with the United States on foreign policy. Now the United States is respected. Countries may not like what we do, but they respect what we do.”

Haley went on to add: “They know that if we say we’re going to do something, we follow it through. And the president proved that. Whether it was with the chemical weapons in Syria, whether it’s with NATO, saying that other countries have to pay their share, and whether it’s the trade deals, which have been amazing. They get that the president means business, and they follow through with that.”

Some experts say that Haley’s exit comes at the right time to protect her brand in case Democrats take over in January and decide to impeach Trump.

Her work with the administration could be enough to help her in 2024 if she decides to run for president.

There are some wild theories out there like a potential Senate run in case Lindsey Graham replaces Jeff Sessions as Attorney General of the United States.

Some also say that she might replace Vice President Mike Pence on the Republican ticket in 2020.

Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and United States Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell are mentioned as potential replacements.

However, a few things are clear the controversy over her pricey curtains and the call for an investigation into her flights by watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington yesterday might have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.

CREW’s executive director, Noah Bookbinder, said in a statement: “By accepting gifts of luxury private flights, Ambassador Haley seems to be falling in line with other Trump administration officials who are reaping personal benefits from their public positions. Our ethics laws are clearly written to prevent even the appearance of corruption and improper influence.”

The flights were estimated at $24,000.
