Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Want Financial Independence, But The Process Will Drag On For Some Time

Prince Harry Meghan Markle Megxit Queen Elizabeth

The British Royal Family is in a state of great disturbance after the latest announcement that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, plan to desert many of their royal duties without discussing the matter with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William first.

The so-called “Megxit” took many by surprise, but reportedly some members of the royal family were very furious with the couple because ever since Meghan and Harry started dating, everyone had reportedly been trying to bend “over backward for them,” and now they were quitting.

According to a person working as an aide in the palace, the royal couple was proving to be ungrateful since they were given the desired wedding, house, office, and money from the beginning.

Another spokesman commented that it was deeply unfair to the queen, and she did not deserve such treatment.

Others claimed that the queen and the rest of the royals faced the news with great disappointment.

Harry and Meghan first released their statement on social media via their joint account on Instagram and, in a lengthy message, explained they reached the decision to step back from being senior members of the royal family and become financially independent.

However, on the very next day, a new statement coming from the Buckingham Palace was issued that stated the discussions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were at an early stage, and even though their desire to take different approach was understood, it would still take time to work things through.

After days of intense media coverage, the queen opted to leave the couple to move forward after a high-stake meeting with Prince William, Prince Harry, and Prince Charles.

In a carefully-worded statement, she said: “Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family. My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”

She continued with: “Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives. It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the U.K. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”

Meghan has reportedly signed a huge deal with Disney. The couple will remain in Canada until the end of the Donald Trump presidency.
