She works hard for the money! Ashanti recently shared a few videos where she joined one of the protests that are taking place in support of Black Lives Matter after the death of George Floyd. However, many are slamming the star for flaunting her wealth while being an activist.
The talented singer and actress appeared in the Instagram videos looking fierce and fiery. She delivered a moving speech about important topics such as police brutality and systemic racism against African Americans.
Ashanti carried homemade signs asking for change and posed with other protesters who were demonstrating amid the coronavirus pandemic for the cause.
Ashanti, who was inspired by the fight, captioned one video she shared on Instagram: “The energy is just different. I’ve never protested before nor did I think I would ever have to…. we’ve seen the movies we’ve read the books. I come from a family devoted to making change. My grandfather James Davis walked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1,965, and here we are in 2020 fighting the same fight all over the world. The energy is shifting tho. It feels different this time. Enough is Enough. ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽”

Ashanti also shared her pain after seeing the circumstances around the deaths of unarmed black American men and women.
Her emotional post said: “United we stand🔥🔥🔥💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽. The last couple of days have been scary, painful and confusing to say the least. Brutality, hate, racism, murder, anger, conspiracy…even hints & suspicion of martial law. Today there’s been some progress, a little hope, a little compassion… praying for conviction. One down… so many more to go! RIP 🙏🏽#georgefloyd #ahmaudarbery
Many noticed that Ashanti was wearing a very expensive leather Louis Vuitton mask during the events and called her out for reminding the world that she is rich.
A social media user made this remark about the mask: “America doesn’t be fooled; how is she supporting the black community while wearing a Louis Vuitton mask? Anybody else notices that?”
Another unhappy post about the mask read: “Corona definitely against cutting through that LEATHER LV mask. That thing looks thick. Can you breathe through that?”
This person said Ashanti and others need to make this change: “Why are you guys protesting in the street need to go to city hall with that many people. You guys should bum barred the people in the city who can actually make change with calls emails vines tik toks because that is how u reach these people.”
Ashanti recently had a blast at her mother, Tina Douglass, where the atmosphere was lit.
