Ryan Reynolds has recently started proceedings for selling his successful business, Aviation American Gin, to the multinational giant Diageo for the reported amount of $610 million.
However, it appears that the trendy star would not be paid the whole amount of the sum at once, but in the course of the next decade with him serving as an official representative of the label.
Meanwhile, the 43-year-old Deadpool actor stayed true to his boisterous nature and decided to make some fun of the situation, as he added a humorous automatic response for his email account that stated he was currently busy selling his brand “For quite a long time, it seems.”
Reynolds elaborated further with this explanation: “Thanks for your email. I am currently out of the office but will still be very hard at work selling Aviation Gin. For quite a long time, it seems.”
He added: “I just learned what an ‘earn-out’ is… And I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to everyone I told to go f— themselves in the last 24 hours. My lawyers just explained how long it takes to achieve an ‘earn-out’… so… turns out I’m not as George Clooney as I thought”.
In addition, the movie star concluded his automatic reply with a lengthy list of everyone he offended, including his spouse, Blake Lively, mother, colleague, The Rock, George Clooney, who sold his tequila brand Casamigos, (to the same company Diageo), for $1 billion in 2017.
The megastar also apologized to AMC Theatres in his eye-popping message.
He concluded by: “The point is, to those listed below, I’m sorry … and I’ll indeed be needing your help in the coming months and years. Thanks in advance!”
Reynolds is far from the first famous person to strike a lucrative deal with Diageo, as the company has previously acquired Clooney’s tequila brand, Casamigos, and P. Diddy‘s Ciroc vodka.
Apart from him selling his brand, it appears that 2020 was a pretty profitable year for Reynolds since he took a second place for the highest-paid actor by earning around $20 million for his roles in the Netflix productions “Six Underground and Red Notice.
The actor appears in the latest ad campaign for the brand, promoting Aviation Home School Edition and it is hilarious.
One commenter reacted with: “😂🤣😂😆 you kill me with that kind of propaganda but I have to admit that it definitely works for us moms that have to deal with kid’s homeschooling 🙄😒🤭🥃👌🏼.”
Some are happy that Reynolds will continue doing this kind of work.
