The new biography, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, has been enjoying a lot of attention from many sides, as many of Mariah Carey‘s fans have been curious to find out more about her extraordinary life, especially from her earlier years.
One revelation, in particular, seems to be actively on everyone’s minds — a passionate night she had allegedly spent with Derek Jeter.
Carey has decided to go into some detail about the memorable night in her book, drawing even more attention from her supporters.
Carey confessed that her brief romance with Jeter started while she was still legally married to Sony Music president Tommy Mottola. The pair was together from 1993 to 1998.
Carey said she shared ‘a warm, slow, intoxicating kiss’ on Jeter’s roof, (that served as inspiration for her hit song, “The Roof”), but they did not sleep together because the divorce process was not yet over.
However, once the divorce with Mottola was final, she rapidly took a flight to Tampa for a night of “sensual” lovemaking.
She wrote: “Everything was so new and sweet, down to the smooth texture of his honey-dipped skin. It was how it was supposed to feel. Yet it was not meant to last, as Carey said, ‘DJ was a love in my life, not of my life.”
Carey went on to say in an excerpt of the memoir: “Of course, I do! I can never forget that moment. I mean, it’s not like it was some intensely deep, intellectually stimulating — again, it was a great moment, and it happened in a divine way because it helped me get past living there, in Sing Sing, under those rules and regulations.”
Carey also made the shocking revelation that he was the second man she had had any sexual relations with. Of course, this prompted even more speculation about who the first might have been, leading to lots of active discussions on internet boards. The logical answer would be her ex-husband.
The singer went into a lot of detail about the passionate night she spent with the baseball player, paying a lot of attention to details like the feeling of his skin and other romantic points.
Some have accused her of trying to build up her current popularity by exploiting private events from her past, though on the other hand, fans have not seen any reports from Jeter himself expressing disappointment in the situation.
Carey has typically been more closed about her private life, making those revelations even more exciting for many of her fans.
It is not often that observers catch a glimpse into her life behind the scenes, especially one that goes into so much detail, so it is definitely a fresh development that took some by surprise.
