Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caused major trouble to the British royal family with their Oprah Winfrey interview earlier this year.
After leaving the British monarchy in 2020, the powerful couple settled old scores by dropping some major bombshells during the controversial March sit-down that might have created tension between Prince Charles and his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and put Prince William in the position to be his brother’s savior.
The power couple claimed that the royal family has some problems with the issue of race. 36-year-old Harry and Meghan, 39, even accused a member of the family of bringing up the skin tone of their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, before he was even born.
For some, Markle suggested that Archie was not given the title of prince because of his mixed heritage. This is something that has since been debunked by multiple royal experts.
Prince Harry was called weak for sitting idly by as Meghan Markle was being disingenuous and shared the inaccuracies.
Moreover, Meghan, backed by her spouse, said that she did not receive adequate support when she was pregnant with her first child. The former actress said that she was dealing with mental health issues and even became suicidal at some point.
Things got poignant when Harry talked about his father, Prince Charles, 72, ignoring his calls after the couple decided to withdraw from royal duties last year.
Royal biographer Robert Jobson called out Prince Harry by saying: “The stuff about him not getting protection because he hasn’t been made a prince, that was completely wrong. And it’s not for the Queen to decide whether he gets protection anyway. It is for the Home Office.”
He added: “So the fact they got things wrong that slightly undermined their argument, particularly with the fake marriage. Harry must know that that is not true what she is saying. And he didn’t contradict her. He was a bit weak, Harry. I don’t understand why Harry unless he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, didn’t understand and explain to his wife.”
The shocking interview changed the landscape and put the royal family on the defensive, with Prince William, 38, forced to come out and say that his family is “pretty much” not racist.
Two months after the Oprah chat, royal expert Ingrid Seward is claiming that Prince Harry knew exactly what he was doing with all these revelations; he wanted to be a disruptor and shake things up in the British monarchy.
While some royal insiders claim that Harry regrets doing the interview in light of what happened weeks later — his grandfather, Prince Philip, passed away — Seward does not think that is the case.
For her, Prince Harry does not regret sitting down with Oprah. Moreover, the author fails to see what Harry and Meghan were trying to accomplish by bringing up these issues to a broad audience.
Seward said: “Quite why I don’t understand, but he did want to. And then he did, and I don’t think he’s surprised by the repercussions or that he regrets it for a moment. You don’t go to the HR department in the UK. You go and see a doctor, or you say to your husband, “Darling, I feel dreadful; I need you to find someone. Harry was in therapy himself, so he must have known people.”
A royal source has spoken to the media and explained that Prince Charles, who has a stubborn personality, is furious at the dishonest remarks made by Prince Harry against the royal family and cannot find it in his heart to ever forgive him.
Queen Elizabeth is said to be frustrated with Prince Charles’s drastic stand against Prince Harry because she has no time to waste on his bitter attitude as she mourns the loss of her husband, Prince Phillip.
The royal insider explained: “With the way things are going, Charles may never forgive Harry, which hasn’t gone down well with Elizabeth. She feels that he’s putting his pride before the best interest of the monarchy. She has enough on her plate dealing with the loss of her husband. It’s drama she can do without.”
The source went on to explain that it may be Prince William who will have to intervene to get his brother and father on speaking terms again.
The person shared: “He believes that in order to repair damage and destruction from Harry’s interview, the best approach is to keep things civil with his brother rather than fanning the flames and fighting back with a tit-for-tat attitude.”
Prince Charles showed that he is still furious at the Sussexes by sharing a picture for Archie’s second birthday that did not include Meghan Markle.
Harry and Meghan have seen their popularity declined in the UK after the Oprah interview, and some observers even doubt that they will return to the country anytime soon, fearing an icy reception from a public that is very protective of the royal family and Queen Elizabeth.
