While Meghan Markle might have some high-profile celebrities defending her name, there is at least one who has decided to call her out for a lie she told during a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Sitting with Prince Harry by her side, Meghan Markle attempted to explain her falling-out with the royal family by saying that she was not prepared.
The former actress claimed that she failed to research the man she was about to get involved with. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, told the media mogul that she opted not to google any members of the British family.
The philanthropist, who met Prince Harry on a blind date set up by close friends, said during her bombshell interview: “Thank God I didn’t know a lot about the family. God, I hadn’t researched. I would’ve been so in my head about it.”
Real Housewives of Cheshire personality Leilani Dowding recently did an interview and explained that Meghan Markle did not tell the truth about not digging and searching online to find information about Prince Harry.
The reality TV star pointed to the obvious almost everybody looks up online before they go on their first blind date with someone.
In this modern era, everyone has a trace on social media, especially public figures like Prince Harry and the royal clan.
Dowding revealed why she does not believe Meghan Markle’s s “unthinkable” claim. She said: “Absolutely not [true] in this day and age; everyone Googles everyone.”
The reality personality, who is married to The Cult guitarist Billy Duffy, went on to speak on her experience.
She confessed: “I googled Billy and Billy googled me, the moment I heard that he wanted to ask me out, I said, ‘You know, send me a photo, what’s his name? Oh, Billy Duffy, OK, let me put that into Google and see what happens.”
She stated that Meghan Markle is lying because she would not be so naive to start a romance with an heir to the British throne without at least reading up about Queen Elizabeth II.
The television star went on to say: “I just find it very hard to believe that in this day and age, anybody would not look somebody up if they were well known. I just think if you’re going on, whether it’s a blind date or anything, it would be so naive not to look up somebody first. Absolutely, Billy did that with me, and I did it with him — I don’t know anybody that wouldn’t!”
Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have rattled the royal family with a series of accusations and truth bombs.
The author revealed that she had suicidal thoughts while pregnant with her first child and did not receive sufficient mental health support.
The power couple also claimed that members of the royal family had disturbing conversations about Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor‘s skin color before he was born.
The pair, who recently welcomed a daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, appears to be working to repair the relationships with the royals.
The Sussex family plans to travel to London in the fall for a tribute to Princess Diana.
