Atlanta Suspected Murder-Suicide Leaves Mother And Her Adult Children Dead — Funeral Plans Revealed

New reports about the murders of Erin Edwards, 20, and her brother, Christopher Edwards, 24, seem to be painting the situation in an even more disturbing light.

The siblings were killed by their mother, Marsha Edwards, who then committed suicide.

Via Instagram Marsha Edwards praised her two adult children not long before the horrific murders took place in the family’s Cobb County townhouse in Atlanta, Georgia.

In the Instagram post, the mother explained that she had “the best summer” with her family in Miami, Florida, and Italy.

She added that she could not ask for better children. Shortly afterward, she took a gun and fatally shot her daughter and son.

The deaths did not come to light until some time after a wellness check was being performed in the family’s home at the request of Marsha Edwards’ ex-husband, Dr. Chris Edwards.

Erin was an intern for NBC New York’s digital team and a Boston University student. As for Christopher, he worked as a digital content manager for the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Film and Entertainment, according to his bio.

It is still not clear what might have provoked the woman to commit the horrific acts, but a large part of the story is still coming to light with various details being uncovered slowly.

It does not seem like things were going bad in any way before the murder, which has left many people puzzled as a whole.

There has been a lot of speculation over the incident, with some claiming that there might be more to the situation than the public is seeing right now.

However, given the sensitive nature of the case right now, it will probably take a while before things start coming to light in any sensible manner.

An Instagram user had this to say: “Hmm. Was it made to look like a murder-suicide? What’s the ex-husband saying? Was he getting remarried?”

A person shared this theory: “People need to get a clue. She murdered her kids. They lived in a gated community. They have surveillance and everything. Police probably found gun powder residue on her hand when she fired the shot to kill herself. Distance from the gun to the body. She did this because she was unhappy. Her ex was going to get married.”

Another social media user revealed: “?something is not right, and the truth will come out….8 believe they were murdered and the person had to be an expert to make it seem like she shot herself….”

According to this third commenter, the events do not add up: “So. Damn. Weird. Murders suicides by women are rare, but I think there are even rarer when it involves adult children. And it seems SO out of the blue I wanna know what was going on in her life that made her took the lives of her ADULT kids!!!”

This fifth comment read: “Y’all know I prefer facts as opposed to gossip, but DAMN… Nobody in their inner circle is comfortable with this case being closed as a simple murder-suicide case. My eyes are wide open. Let the chips fall where they may. Things about the family are coming to light on both ends. Whatever the result, what we DO know is that Erin and Chris Jr had an infinite life of possibilities ahead of them and nothing can make this make sense, even if/when we discover more information.?”

This person, who knew the mother well, revealed: “They are so quick to say murder/suicide, but it’s extremely easy to murder someone and make it look like a suicide, and they are justifying it being a murder-suicide because she was going through a divorce or still loved her ex or whatever???? I was actually told by a cop that they are quick to label sh*t a suicide just to close the case out without a long, drawn-out investigation that costs money and time so whenever they can get away with labeling it a suicide they can and will. And also because some towns don’t want their murder rate going up. The ex is extra fishy I can smell him all the way from Florida. What made him request a welfare check when he’s never requested a welfare check before? I believe in my heart of hearts and to the heavens that this woman didn’t kill her kids. You can tell without a shadow of a doubt that this woman lived for her kids. And I bet the ex had a helping hand getting the word out there that she murdered the kids to hurry and get less focus off him when people found out her, and the kids passed away. I would be checking life insurance policies on all three and I would be checking the ex’s phone and text records and even try to find a burner phone because I bet this man has a side piece. They have been wrong before when labeling someone’s death as suicide then later correcting themselves by saying it was indeed murder. Or who knows maybe I’m a crazy lunatic, but my gut has never been wrong about someone before.”

A memorial service is set for Wednesday, August 28 at the Cascade Methodist Church in Atlanta. It will start at 11 a.m.
