A new documentary was released this week, and it focuses on Meghan Markle‘s outlandish spending habits when she was a working member of the royal family.
It was revealed that Queen Elizabeth disapproved of the amounts that were spent, and she made sure to let her concerns be known to the former actress.
According to royal experts, who took part in the documentary, Prince William also clashed with Prince Harry over money.
The outside world was surprised by how much money the lavish wedding cost British taxpayers.
The renovation of the Frogmore Cottage also rang the alarm bells along with the extravagant maternity wardrobe that Meghan Markle required during her first pregnancy.
Note that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced that they have repaid the $3 million of public money that they used to renovate their home in the UK.
Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett, who authored the book Royals at War, explained the tense situation that existed between the couple, the Queen, and Prince William over finances: “Harry’s [spending] transformation is revealed as one of the fundamental factors behind the deep fissure that opened between him and his brother, Prince William. The fact that Meghan splashed so much cash rang alarm bells with the traditionally conservative Queen Elizabeth.”
Even though the Queen has a net worth of around $500 million, she is frugal and was surprised by the former actress’s spending habits.
The authors shared: “Growing up in the war left the monarch with a built-in sense of frugality and economy, despite being one of the richest women in the world.”
Royal writer Daniela Elser also dropped a piece this week where she shed some light on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wealth since leaving England and signing multiple deals with Netflix, Spotify, and other big names.
The experienced journalist revealed the state of the couple’s affairs is not all that shinny and added: “They haven’t exactly set Hollywood on fire. The problem with this paradigm is that their entire money-making ability is pegged to their ability to generate good PR. Should interest in them wane, or public fatigue for the never-out-of-the-news duo set in, then their value could plummet.”
She continued: “While Harry and Megan’s financial future might outwardly seem rosy thanks to their Netflix deal (and their estimated $33.5million Spotify deal) look closer, and things aren’t quite so shiny.”
The writer went on to give details as to why the duo might land in a financial pickle if they do not rapidly produce hits.
She stated: “The Times has reported that, according to industry insiders, it is likely that their Netflix deal would be structured such that they receive a retainer of somewhere between $1.85 million and $3.7 million annually, and would then earn more as they release shows.”
She concluded by: “Given their costs for security and their home in Montecito have been estimated at around $5.9 million, they would need their productions to be smash hits.”
The power couple is working hard to stay in the limelight. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already announced two new projects with streaming giant Netflix, a documentary about the Invictus Games and an animated series covering female empowerment.
