Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are determined to become an “alternate woke family.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently angered many with their decision to talk about Afghanistan’s complex and chaotic situation.
The powerful duo stated that the “world is exceptionally fragile right now,” which left them “speechless.”
In their lengthy joint statement, the couple further explained that they had been struck by “the many layers of pain” because of what was happening in Afghanistan, the worldwide pandemic, and the disastrous earthquake in Haiti that apparently left them “heartbroken” and “scared.”
In addition, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex urged their worldwide readers to join forces by putting “our values in action — together.”
However, it appears that not everyone was touched by the message, as some deemed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s words as too “grandiose” and “phony.”
According to royal expert Angela Levin, even though the former senior royals tried to sound compassionate about the current disastrous events, there was still no indication that they would do something more than talking.
Levin, who authored a biography about Prince Harry, also stated that the couple’s latest message to “alleviate suffering among those we know and those we may never meet” was just too similar to their recent urge for compassion “to those we know and those we don’t know” and she could not take them seriously.
Levin told MailOnline: “I think Harry and Meghan’s grandiose, comfy and caring comments about the situation in Afghanistan, the disaster in Haiti and new Covid variants is another example of them trying to set up some sort of alternate woke royal family.”
The royal expert added: “Like most of their ‘compassionate’ gestures, there is no indication about what they themselves will do and whether any donations will be going through Archewell Foundation.”
Royal journalist Richard Eden chimed in with this comment: “Thank goodness Harry, and #Meghan have managed to share a few words on the world’s crises, despite being rendered ‘speechless.'”
As a result, many people took to social media to opine that the Sussexes were seeking attention with their statements.
One user wrote: “Has not a damn thing to do w Afghanistan, but he’ll use even that tragedy to get on the news.”
Another royal fan stated: “What patronizing statement from them.” A third commenter noted: “This statement lacks the word compassion.”
Some observers say that the former actress is trying to show more gravitas because she wants to get into politics.
