At the age of 95, Queen Elizabeth II is a historical monarch with 70 years of reign under her belt.
She has seen presidents come and go, saw the rise and fall of empires, and remained the defiant head of state that she is.
However, Queen Elizabeth is also a loving mother and doting grandmother who is often described as the glue that holds her family together.
The past few months have been somewhat complicated for her Majesty, with the pandemic forcing her to change or even end century-old royal traditions.
She was hit with devastating revelations via Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s interviews, and she lost her beloved husband.
The sex trafficking case involving her adored son, Andrew, became more complicated, and she was forced to remove his titles during an emotional tête-à-tête.
Despite the drama and pain caused by her family, Queen Elizabeth has apparently decided to cave in to avoid further humiliating situations this year.
Her Majesty is gearing up for a massive celebration as she marks her Platinum Jubilee. The historical moment will be celebrated with English pageantry, parades, concerts, speeches, and more.
Queen Elizabeth is also set to honor the royal family members with Jubilee medals.
Prince Harry’s exit from his royal duties with Meghan Markle and Andrew’s scandalous upcoming trial led to both men losing titles and patronage.
It was previously reported that Prince Harry and his disgraced uncle were not ineligible to receive the coveted medals.
According to a piece that was published in the Daily Telegraph, Prince Harry and Andrew were not scheduled to be recognized by Queen Elizabeth because they have lost their honorary military titles.
However, The Sun has revealed that Queen Elizabeth has decided to personally step in and rectify the potentially embarrassing situation by overlooking the fact that her son and grandson no longer have military affiliations.
To bypass the unwritten rule, Queen Elizabeth will make sure that the two men receive the medals as private gifts from the monarchy.
Taking it a step further, Her Majesty will also award gongs to “both working and non-working,” making sure that Meghan Markle is eligible to receive a Platinum Jubilee medal along with other non-working members of the family.
The Platinum Jubilee medals are normally reserved for Armed Forces members, police, fire, emergency, and prison services.
Some are already upset by Queen Elizabeth’s decision to meddle in the situation in favor of her family.
Graham Smith, CEO of anti-monarchy group Republic, was quick to make his frustration by saying: “I think people would be surprised to see Andrew getting anything at all. I think it’s pretty poor judgment to think people are going to want to see him acknowledged in any way whatsoever.”
He added: “This medal means nothing to us, but it will mean something to him, and I think the fact that he’s being awarded it will probably upset people who find the whole case against him deeply unpleasant and unsettling.”
Prince Harry and Andrew are still problematic for the British monarchy.
