As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle navigate their complicated lawsuit against Queen Elizabeth II‘s government, they face a heartbreaking situation involving their two young children, Archie and Lilibet Diana.
The power couple is said to be devastated that their children cannot spend more time with their cousins — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — (Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s three children).
A royal source revealed that as Markle and her husband go through their security issues, they are doing all they can to figure out how to make sure that the five young cousins see one another and create bonds.
A person familiar with the situation shared: “Harry and Meghan are doing everything they can to make the world a better place and feel it would be wrong to rob their children of the opportunity of getting to know their cousins.”
The source explained that the Sussex pair has relied on technology to ensure that the children stay in contact.
It was revealed to OK: “It’s obviously difficult because of the distance factor, so Harry sweetly organized a special Zoom call with Prince William so that the cousins could get to see each other.”
According to the royal insider, while Prince Harry does not want to put his family at risk, he has high hopes of going to his homeland.
The source stated: “Harry has his heart set on returning to the U.K. to see the queen with Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet, but that will only happen if the government takes the appropriate measures to protect his family.”
It is not known how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s legal drama with the government, their major concerns about returning to England, and their predicament with their two children will play out in the upcoming weeks.
Thus far, the family has not indicated if they will attend Prince Philip‘s memorial service in the spring or Queen Elizabeth‘s Platinum Jubilee in June.
Prince Harry and his family might have a new incentive to visit England. On Sunday, it was confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II had tested positive for coronavirus.
Buckingham Palace said the 95-year-old, who is fully vaccinated, was doing well as she battled COVID-19 and was experiencing mild cold-like symptoms.
Prince Harry opened the year with a bang, and he dropped the bombshell that he had plans to file a lawsuit against the Home Office.
The Duke of Sussex kept his promise earlier this week by formally dragging the British government to the High Court because it refused to let him pay for his security while in London with his family.
Via his legal team, the Duke of Sussex has officially applied for a judicial review of the government’s decision not to allow him to fully fund his and his family’s protection while in the UK.
Prince Harry, who is the first royal to ever sue Her Majesty‘s government, did not appear in court, but his legal representative, Shaheed Fatima QC, explained that while England will always be home, he does not feel safe traveling with his wife and children.
According to legal documents, Prince Harry had insisted that the UK “will always be his home.”
Still, he cited a security-related incident that occurred in June 2021 when he traveled to London for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother, Princess Diana.
The law expert explained: “This claim is about the fact that the claimant does not feel safe when he is in the U.K. given the security arrangements applied to him in June 2021 and will continue to be applied to him.”
She continued: “It goes without saying that he does want to come back to see family and friends and to continue to support the charities that are so close to his heart. Most of all, this is and always will be his home.”
Some observers think it is unlikely that the power couple will back off the legal fight.
