Not much would be known about Beyoncé‘s children if it was not for her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, who occasionally lets a little detail slip.
Beyoncé and her billionaire husband, Jay-Z (Shawn Carter), are the proud parents of daughter Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir Carter.
This week, Tina Knowles-Lawson did an interview to promote Beyoncé’s latest Adidas x Ivy Park collection.
The fashion designer and mother of two said that her granddaughter, Rumi, who is five years old, is a real fashionista with a mind of her own.
Sitting down on Oprah Daily, Knowles-Lawson explained that little Rumi picks out her own clothes and is very creative.
While creativity and free thinking are encouraged in the famous Knowles-Carter family, Blue Ivy Carter tries to intervene and remind her younger sister of the rules that should not be broken.
The award-winning costume designer shared a cute story about her two grandaughters that took place recently.
Beyoncé’s mother said that Rumi put a cute outfit together for a trip to Disneyland, and while she was impressed, Blue Ivy wondered if Queen Bey would not get mad at the choice.
The Texan stylist shared: “We recently went to Disneyland, and she put on her Mickey Mouse shorts. Then she wanted to put on a sparkly printed top that had the same colors. It actually looked really cute.”
She went on to reveal Rumi’s older sister, Blue Ivy’s sweet reaction: “Blue was like, ‘My mom would be mad because she’s doing too much. And Rumi said, ‘This is my style.’ She’s 5. I was impressed.”
According to Lawson, Rumi seems to have many things in common with her stylish and unpredictable aunt, Solange.
She elaborated: “She wore outrageous stuff, but she has an amazing sense of style. So you let them do their own thing. You can’t say, ‘No, this doesn’t go with this or that.'”
Blue, Rumi, and her twin brother, Sir Carter, who are rarely seen in public, do every once in a while appear in their mother’s Adidas x Ivy Park campaigns.
The Carter siblings not only model the clothes but also help design them. The grandmother of four, who is writing her memoir, stated: “They have definite determination about what they like and what they don’t like. When Beyoncé’s doing the first samples, they get them, and some things they love, and some things you can tell are not their favorite. Kids like things that are comfortable. They don’t want anything that’s scratchy or too tight, or high around the neck. So they absolutely give input on the brand. And they wear it — I mean, they are always in Ivy Park.”
Beyoncé is not only dropping fly and colorful clothes, but she is also releasing her seventh studio album, Renaissance, on July 29. The first single, “Break My Soul,” is receiving a lot of buzz.
