When Prince Charles becomes King of England, many will not be surprised if one of his first orders of business includes bestowing titles to his grandchildren — Archie, three, and Lilibet Diana, 1.
However, then again, many would call him out if he chooses not to make his two biracial grandchildren a prince and a princess.
Prince Charles has dramatically changed his behavior toward Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the past few weeks.
Markle and Prince Harry traveled to London to take part in Queen Elizabeth II‘s Platinum Jubilee, where a wonderful family reunion with Charles, Prince of Wales, was held.
It has been confirmed that Prince Charles was emotional when he met Lilibet.
Prince Charles’s decision to go from cold and distant to a warm and loveable grandfather indicates that he will not hesitate to bestow the titles to Prince Harry’s children when the time comes.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s children may be given the titles of Prince and Princess when Prince Charles accedes to the throne,
Royal author Andrew Morton revealed that it would be a somewhat confusing situation for Prince Harry and Markle when Prince Charles gifts his grandchildren these royal honors.
On the one hand, Prince Harry is fighting the Monarchy, has taken his distance from London, and wants no ties to royal life.
On the other hand, his two children will be made prince and princess and therefore be tied to the Monarchy forever.
The biographer told Express: “The big irony in all of this is that when Prince Charles comes to the throne, one of the first things he will be asked to do is to make Lilibet a Princess and Archie a Prince. So while Harry will be cast in the darkness, his children will have royal titles.”
He went on to say that when Prince Charles ascends the throne, things will be very different for Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex has a close bond with Queen Elizabeth — he does not need an appointment to see his grandmother.
Things are quite different with Prince Charles since “Megxit” and the controversial Oprah Winfrey interview.
The author believes if the Duke of Sussex and Markle do not work on their relationships with Prince Charles, they will be completely shut out and shunned by the new reign.
Morton also said: “You could have Prince Harry distanced from the head of state, unable to get an appointment, unlike now when he can just jump the queue.”
He added: “It’s going to be interesting to see which title they will get. And Lilibet will be the first American-born princess.”
Some are wondering, will Prince Harry and Markle accept Prince Charles’s prestigious gifts to their children?
In the infamous Oprah interview, Markle had a lot to say about her children becoming Princes and Princess.
She said: “People at the palace were saying they didn’t want [Archie] to be a prince. He wasn’t going to receive security”.
Markle went on to make it clear that Prince Charles would look bad if he declines to give his biracial children the titles.
She flat out stated: “The idea of our son not being safe, and also the idea of the first member of color in this family not being titled in the same way that other grandchildren would be…”
Topics like slavery and Great Britain’s horrific and humiliating colonial past would quickly come back to the surface if Prince Charles refuses to provide Markle’s children with the royal honor.
The former American actress went on to talk about the Letters Patent by King George V, saying: “You know, the other piece of that conversation is, there’s a convention — I forget if it was George V or George VI convention — that when you’re the grandchild of the monarch, so when Harry’s dad becomes king, automatically Archie and our next baby would become prince or princess, or whatever they were going to be.”
She continued: “It’s not their right to take the title away from her children, the and so, I think even with that convention I’m talking about, while I was pregnant, they said they want to change the convention for Archie.”
Meghan Markle said it was “not our decision to make” when asked her directly if she wanted her son styled as a Prince.
