Former President Donald Trump has his hands full these days, taking on dozens of legal fights while preparing what seems to be another run for the White House.
Still, he found time for a lengthy interview to speak about his admiration and fascination with Queen Elizabeth II after her death.
The de facto leader of the Republican Party also issued a statement revealing why Her Majesty was important to him, the UK, and the world.
Trump made it clear to King Charles III that changes should have been made so President Joe Biden could brought a delegation and, therefore, he would have been invited to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
A senior Trump adviser told The Daily Beast: “Biden should include Trump the way Obama included [former President] George W. Bush for Mandela. No brainer.”
However, all of Trump’s praises, frustrations, requests, and efforts fell on King Charles’s deaf ears.
The newly proclaimed King and the British government opted not to invite Trump to the state funeral at Westminster Abbey.
King Charles and The Palace cited the lack of space inside the church as the reason public figures like Trump and former President Barack Obama could not attend the religious ceremony.
Buckingham Palace claimed that it only invited sitting world leaders and their spouses or partners to the funeral. And no delegations were allowed.
However, many were confused by the fact that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, had a delegation.
PEOPLE Magazine confirmed that Sandra Oh, of Grey’s Anatomy and Killing Eve fame, attended Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral as part of the Canadian delegation, which also included Olympic swimming champion Mark Tewksbury and musician Gregory Charles.
Spain’s official delegation was led by King Felipe and his wife, Queen Letizia. However, Spain’s disgraced and controversial former King Juan Carlos, who is in exile in Dubai, raised eyebrows by attending the funeral with his estranged wife, Queen Sofia.
King Charles attempted to smooth things over with the high-profile Americans who were snubbed by inviting them to a Thanksgiving service for the Queen at the National Cathedral in Washington.
All living former presidents — Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter — were invited to the service. However, Trump and the other presidents chose not to attend.
It seems that Trump did not take the snub lightly and let King Charles know exactly how he felt by declining the hand of friendship and skipping the event.
Many are wondering if King Charles will correct that error by extending another olive branch by having Trump at his coronation. Trump met Queen Elizabeth twice in 2018 and the following year.
Talking about the 2019 meeting with the Queen, Trump delightfully shared: “We had a really great time. There are those that say they have never seen the Queen have a better time, a more animated time. We had a period where we were talking solid straight. I didn’t even know who the other people at the table were; I never spoke to them. We just had a great time.”
The former president even said he would have gotten good seats if he attended the state funeral.
