King Charles Had Disagreement With Queen Elizabeth About Prince William’s Privilege

In a new book that a royal expert published, it was revealed that Queen Elizabeth clashed with her eldest son over a decision he took for Prince William.

Katie Nicholl‘s book, The New Royals, revealed that in 2021, King Charles had decided that he and Prince William would be the only members of the royal family who could lay wreaths in the Cenotaph.

King Charles suggested to his mother that he and Prince William should be the only senior royals to have that privilege because they were the heirs to the throne.

According to the book, Queen Elizabeth was not having it and was quick to put her foot down.

Nicholl claimed that Queen Elizabeth told off her son and made it clear that other high-ranking royals, including Anne, Princess Royal, and Prince Andrew, would have that honor.

Writing about the disagreement, the royal expert revealed via Express: “When Charles suggested that he and William should be the only two senior royals to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in 2021, the Queen put her foot down. She insisted that other family members, including Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and the Duke of Kent, should be given the privilege.”

However, King Charles has since pushed to slim down the Royal Family and even hold a less expensive coronation amid the cost of living crisis.

On September 8th, Queen Elizabeth died peacefully while on holiday in Scotland, and therefore, King Charles was proclaimed the new Sovereign.

It is a known fact that King Charles wants to have a slimmed-down Monarchy, implying that he would have a few senior royals by his side.

The goal is to highlight the line of succession — meaning give privilege to Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

A source told The Mirror: “The King is very aware of the struggles felt by modern Britons so will see his wishes carried through that although his coronation ceremony should stay right and true to the long-held traditions of the past, it should also be representative of a monarchy in a modern world.”

They added: “He has already spoken of his wish to continue his mother’s legacy, and this includes continuing to recognize what the people are experiencing day by day.”

Does that mean other royals, including King Charles’s siblings, will see their royals downgraded under his reign? The changes will probably affect non-working royals like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
