It has been reported that King Charles III was optimistic about how Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, conducted themselves before, during, and after Queen Elizabeth II‘s state funeral.
According to a reliable source, who spoke to The Telegraph, the new Monarch suddenly believed that a truce could happen between the Sussexes and the British royal family.
A royal insider told The Telegraph: “Charles is eager for a truce. But unfortunately, there are too many things in the pipeline that could jeopardize the Sussexes’ relationship with the new Monarch.”
Now that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned to California, the many little things that King Charles dreaded that could jeopardize the progress made during their meetings and conversations have reared their heads.
Prince Harry and Markle signed multi-million dollar contracts with several companies, including Penguin Random House, Netflix, and Spotify.
The father of two, who was supposed to release his tell-all memoir this fall, has requested meetings with the publishing company to push it back to 2023.
He is also pleading with his boss to revise the memoir to avoid further hurting the royals. Prince Harry and Markle are also eyeing a change in the Netflix docuseries that they have started filming, again, not to irk the relatives in the UK.
However, a royal expert has revealed that Prince Harry and Markle’s good intentions might come too late.
Shannon Felton Spence, a royal commentator, told Fox News that Prince Harry and Markle’s decision might be a fool’s errand because these companies are aiming for maximum marketability and will not honor their request to water down the content of the book or the series.
As frustrating this might be for King Charles, he has no power to stop American companies from publishing or releasing Markle and Prince Harry’s projects.
Spence said: “They may be too late! If the manuscript is in, and the show is in post-production, Netflix and Penguin Random don’t care about the effect on the Monarchy. It 100% has stuff in it that the Royal Family doesn’t want. It could be catastrophic if ‘The Crown,’ the memoir, and the Netflix show all come out bang, bang, bang like they are scheduled to.”
Spence added: “Netflix is smart. They know what they are doing. They know how to stack content releases for maximum marketability. And if any of this is true, it’s terrible for Harry and Meghan too. Those are epic deals.”
That is not good news for a powerless King Charles, whose biggest desire is to protect the reputation of the Monarchy.
If Prince Harry and Markle’s undertakings are fruitless, the Palace should brace for more humiliating revelations.
