Ellie Goulding will release her fifth studio album Higher Than Heaven on February 3, 2023. It is the follow-up to 2020’s Brightest Blue, which did not deliver the same numbers as her previous projects.
This time around, the 35-year-old British artist is putting everything in her corner to reconnect with her eclectic fan base. The album’s first single, “Easy Lover,” featuring rapper Big Sean, did not perform as well as expected on the charts.
It was followed by “All by Myself,” which was a minor hit in Belgium. Goulding recently debuted the music video for “Let It Die,” her new excerpt from the upcoming collection of songs.
Via Instagram, she explained the idea behind the new track. She wrote: “Let it Die is about when a relationship plays out much longer than it needed to. Instead of giving love to yourself you spend it all on someone else and have nothing left, which is when it can become toxic and harmful. When there is intensity and urgency too quickly in love, there is often a crash.”
As for the album, it was inspired by the complex reality of the last few years. She stated: “There was definitely a darkness about [the past two years] that was palpable in the studio, with everyone having gone through it differently. I think for that reason, nobody wanted to sit and agonize over some relationship or some drama. So that’s how this album came together. [Higher Than Heaven] is about being passionately in love. But it’s a hyper form of love, almost like a drug induced feeling. It feels almost artificial, and there’s the potential for a crash.”
The darkness might have pushed her to seek the light in a new place. She has reportedly set up a profile with her real name, Elena, on the celebrity dating site Raya.
The “Love Me Like You Do” artist is married to art dealer Caspar Jopling, the son of a conservative politician. The couple has a child together, son Arthur, born in April 2021.
According to The Daily Mail, she is looking for “new friends.” A source told The Sun: “Ellie is happily married to Caspar Jopling, but she kept her Raya profile open to connect with interesting people. She makes it clear that her profile is only for mates as she includes the tagline, ‘Here just for friends,’ so it’s nothing untoward.”
Raya is very private, and regular members go through a process before they can join. Actor Ben Affleck had a profile there before marrying Jennifer Lopez earlier this year.
However, he claims that he had not been an active member there for years.
