Casey Anthony is back in the headlines, and many people on social media are not happy about it. The 36-year-old Ohio native is featured in a 3-part limited series where she is really telling her side of the story for the first time.
Peacock is giving her a platform to share her feelings about the tragic death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony, in 2008. Casey Anthony was acquitted in the murder trial of the young girl in 2011.
However, public opinion was firmly against her. A reaction that was somewhat reminiscent of the O.J. Simpson case in 1995.
On Tuesday, the streaming network released a teaser for Casey Anthony: Where The Truth Lies, which will premiere on November 29.
Director Alexandra Dean, who has worked on Paris Hilton‘s documentary This Is Paris and Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story, is the one behind the camera here.
Dean says her goal was simple; she wanted to get “closer to the unbiased truth by hearing all sides of the story — form opposing voices to Casey herself.”
The film director claims that she had “complete editorial control over the outcome of the reporting we did.”
Moreover, according to Dean, her work here “is a startling psychological portrait of Casey Anthony and a complete narrative of what she says happened to her daughter weighed against multiple sources of potential evidence. I believe the result will surprise many and cause the American public to look at this story in a new light.”
Peacock says that the series “is told through Casey’s account of the infamous investigation, trial, and aftermath, speaking to the speculation surrounding her actions at the time, her demeanor in the courtroom, and her time spent in prison.”
The central theme of the documentary is to “finally tell her side of the story and address the public that has made so many assumptions for the past 13 years.”
The press release that announces the series also reads: “Casey’s personal archives, behind the scenes footage, and the defense’s evidence for a never-before-seen look into both sides of a story that ignited a media firestorm.”
Commenters on social media say that Peacock is desperate to get new subscribers, but choosing to go that route is not the way to go.
Some say they would only watch if Anthony confessed to the murder. It will be interesting to see if this fresh look at the sensational case can change the mind of some people on what really happened to the little girl.
Anthony always claimed that critics misjudged her.
