The inevitable seems to be happening — Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew could lose their titles because King Charles III‘s hands are tied in the controversial matter.
Since exiting their royal duties and moving to California in 2020, there have been heavy speculations that Prince Harry and Markle would have their titles removed.
The threat of the pair losing their prestigious titles is due to their business deals, the direct threat to the monarchy by meddling in politics, and the decision to attack the Royal Family with their bombshell interviews.
As for Andrew, he has embarrassed the British royal family for being closely associated with the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal.
Prince Andrew had strong ties with the late convicted sex offender and Ghislaine Maxwell.
Virginia Roberts Giuffre sued Prince Andrew, claiming that at the age of 17, Epstein made her have “disgusting” sex with the royal.
Queen Elizabeth II did not spare her beloved son and stripped him of his military titles.
Elizabeth II also took many brutal actions against Markle and her spouse, but she always stopped short of afflicting the ultimate humiliation of removing their titles.
Since King Charles inherited the throne, he made it clear that he was not bluffing and is ready to pull the plug if The Duke and Duchess of Sussex go too far with the upcoming memoir and Netflix docuseries.
The King has also been dithering with the titles rightfully due to Prince Harry’s children, Archie and Lilibet Diana.
A government official in the UK has put the new Sovereign in an inescapable position where he will have to take concrete action to punish his brother and other problematic royals or hold his tongue.
Royal experts believed the sanctions would spill over to King Charles’s son and daughter-in-law.
On December 9, King Charles will have all eyes on him as Rachael Maskell, a British politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for York Central, presents the first governmental proposal for a Removal of Titles Bill in the House of Commons.
Talking about the legislation, royal expert Pandora Forsy told Express: “Prince Harry is still keeping his title despite the fact that he is not doing any royal duties on a public level because they want privacy. Of course, that also brings up a whole world of problems, I can imagine, for King Charles.”
Royal correspondent Richard Palmer added: “The interesting thing about the titles is the monarch has no power to remove their titles, so it would need a change in the law. Rachel Maskell, the MP for York, is bringing a private members bill to Parliament in early December which would do that.”
Rachel Maskell made it clear that she wants King Charles to remove the titles of all of those who have stained the monarchy.
She argued: “I have heard the city and sought to explore ways that such a title can be removed; however, without new legislation, this will not be possible. Not even the Queen, when she removed all his other titles, was able to remove his Dukedom. This legislation will therefore enable either the monarch or a Committee of Parliament to remove titles from disgraced owners of those titles.”
Prince Harry and Markle have been making great efforts to keep their heads down and be respectful to the institution, but it might be too late.
