Tia Mowry Sparks Debate With Successful Marriage Comment After Divorce From Cory Hardrict

Tia Mowry Cory Hardrict Divorce

Tia Mowry is feeling good after announcing the divorce from her husband of 14 years, Cory Hardrict. The 44-year-old Sister, Sister star is now opening up about the journey that led her to this decision.

For Mowry, this was a long process. The Family Reunion actress believes her story can inspire some women to focus on their emotional well-being and not be ashamed to put themselves first.

The Twintution author appeared on the TODAY Show on Wednesday, and she revealed the exact moment that she knew her marriage was over.

According to the mother of two, going to therapy helped her gain a lot of clarity when it comes to her feelings. She stated: “I knew when I really started to focus on my happiness. I feel like women; we tend to focus on everybody else’s happiness, making sure that everybody else is OK — meaning our children, our friends, our family — but at the end of the day, it’s about self-love.”

She also shared: “When you start to really work on yourself, love yourself, know your value and know your worth, then all of a sudden, there’s this awakening. And it’s not easy. It’s a hard journey, but at the end of the day, I feel like it is so, so worth it. It was all of that together that gave me that ‘ah ha’ moment.”

Mowry surprised some people when she called her marriage a “success.” However, the explanation makes sense.

The cooking enthusiast revealed: “I look at it as, like, a curriculum. You’re learning, you’re growing, you’re evolving, you’re creating, and I was able to create with Cory some beautiful, amazing children. It’s not about staying in something because however long you are in that situation, that equals success. It’s about really, again, are you happy? Because life is really short.”

The statements have led to an interesting conversation about marriage on social media. While many people applaud her for living her truth, some say that divorce should not be framed as “success.”

One commenter shared: “So the people that’ve been married for over 20 30 40 50 60 years they waiting to graduate YALL people say anything these days and forget the meaning of certain things in life .. ps I like you Tia, but you sound hurt.”

A second person chimed in: “This was the most toxic “advise” I’ve ever heard. Say you’re hurt and move on. All these lies you’re spreading. You don’t get married to graduate from it and move on. Like tf.”

A third follower added: “The goal in marriage is not divorce, but the goal in school is graduation. I swear women make up some crazy shit when their emotions are leading them.”

Those, who understand her views, say happiness should be placed above it all. One Mowry backer pointed out: “Amen. I have an aunt whom I love dearly. She’s been married for over 30 yrs. The marriage has literally sucked the life out of her. But she’s still with him. Sometimes you have to step out on faith and walk away. Life is too short to stay in something that isn’t beneficial to you.”

The 43-year-old All American: Homecoming actor has not shared his version of the story. However, he did say that cheating was not involved in the divorce.
