King Charles III is the good cop in the Royal Family when it comes to handling Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The Monarch wants peace with his estranged son and daughter-in-law. He is not ready to give up on them even after the bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and the tell-all memoir Spare.
The three projects painted the monarchy in a very bad light and caused a significant rift with the heir to the throne, Prince William. The Sovereign is using different methods to see if he can get to a better place with his youngest son.
There are several reasons behind his attitude. First, he sees himself as a loving and forgiving father. Second, he believes that the renegade royal has enough material to inflict more pain on the Royal Family.
The King thinks it is wiser to make peace now before the Duke of Sussex decides to reload with a second book. King Charles is willing to risk appearing weak just to get Prince Harry and his wife to stop tarnishing the Royal Family with salacious revelations.
Archbishop Justin Welby has been tasked with the delicate mission of bringing peace between Prince Harry and Prince William. If Welby succeeds, it will open the door for the Sussexes to attend the coronation ceremony in May.
The Prince of Wales feels very differently about his brother being present for the big day. He does not trust Harry to behave himself.
Moreover, he has more or less given up on reconciling with his brother for now. Royal expert Neil Sean said on his YouTube channel: “According to a very good source, William is feeling pragmatic about the entire issue with his brother. He feels that he has done everything in his power, his absolute best, to advise and guide Harry.”
Sean continued: “Harry decided to take his own advice, and now Prince William has told a very good source that he is resigned to the fact that he has lost his younger brother.”
The commentator concluded: “This is about mistrust. Even if he said let’s forgive and forget, William feels there will always be a nagging feeling that if he lets Harry in, their conversations could be made public down the line. William said that while he misses him, he is focused on raising his three children with his wife, Catherine. This could change in the future, but it goes to show where the brothers are right now. He feels Harry is a lost cause.”
Interestingly, Prince Harry is not simplifying things for his father. He demands a heartfelt apology before considering attending the coronation.
Royal observers believe that he is unlikely to get what he wants.
