Often, the royal adults grabbed headlines, but ahead of King Charles III‘s massive coronation, the youngest members of the famous family have been in the news by no fault of their own.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s children — Archie, who turns four on May 4th, and Lilibet, one, have spilled a lot of ink after it was confirmed that they were not invited to the crowning of their grandfather.
Buckingham Palace gave a surprising reason for banning the British/American children — “they are too young.”
Oddly enough, Prince Charles and his sister, Anne, Princess Royal, were present at Queen Elizabeth II‘s coronation at 4 and 2 years old, respectively.
Archie grabbed attention after reports from the Palace claimed King Charles had axed a toast in his honor after the coronation.
The young brother and sister are the subject of a new piece that predicts that the wheels of fortune will turn for them in the right direction.
Royal editor Russell Myers spoke to Sky News Australia. He revealed the possibility that King Charles would offer his biracial grandchildren more prominent roles in the monarchy as they age.
The royal expert made this bold prediction: “Harry said himself that he found princely titles, those sort of associations with the Monarchy, very, very burdensome, so it remains to be seen what role they will have with the Royal Family. Maybe moving forward, they will have a larger role to play, but certainly for Meghan and Harry, this needs to be a period of calm and try a bit of breathing space.”
After many back and forths between King Charles and the Sussexes — the young children were given titles and are now known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Prince Harry and Markle’s decision to fight for the titles of their children is indicative of their role in the monarchy later on.
He added: “It’s a complete contradiction that Harry and Meghan had, through members of their friendly media, said pretty much that they didn’t want titles for the children. And here we are. Just a few weeks ago, they negotiated these prince and princess titles for their children.Of course, they were entitled to those roles but Harry and Meghan could’ve decided to go the other way members of the Royal Family – certainly Princess Anne, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, didn’t choose those roles for their children. What does it mean for them?”
Prince Harry might be hoping for such an arrangement.
