It is rare for royal family members, such as King Charles III, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, to conduct interviews.
Queen Elizabeth II put the mantra “never complain, never explain” in place, which is why the royals remained inside their comfortable palaces and had their aides and close friends leak and brief their feelings and reactions on various topics to the media.
Prince Andrew and Prince Harry have broken out of the bubble for sit-downs with the media — and most would agree that the dropped bombshells did not benefit the Royal Family.
One week after King Charles and Queen Camilla‘s coronation, Kate Middleton had a lengthy conversation during a visit to a British school where she showed vulnerability and explained where she struggles as a senior member of the Royal Family.
Prince William’s wife met with students from St Katherine’s School in Bristol during an event to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.
She shared encouraging words with the pupils but opted to reveal the hardship she faces while chatting with Dame Kelly Holmes, the organizer of the event.
Holmes told PEOPLE, Catherine, Princess of Wales, confessed to her that she is still uncomfortable when she has to speak publicly.
Holmes added that Middleton said that she is working hard to get better at it. She praised Middleton for being honest and letting the world know that she is not perfect and struggles with insecurities like everyone else.
Holmes told the media outlet: “She said she ‘had to learn, and she’s still learning every day. Doing public speaking isn’t a natural thing for lots of people, and she said she’s still working that out, how to project. She humanized everything to show not everyone’s perfect. It doesn’t matter what you’ve got or perceived to have as an individual; you’re still going to have those insecurities and need those learning tools that happen over life.”
Kate Middleton, who has been a member of the British royal family for over 20 years, revealed that she is “still learning about her royal role every day.”
Middleton hinted that she still feels like an outsider despite being the Queen-in-waiting, the tours representing the crown, being the mother of the future King, and being showered with the many privileges of being a royal.
She stated: “She said she ‘had to learn, and she’s still learning every day. It’s a struggle to know you can be accepted and fit in. Princess Kate was lovely because she was just willing to be asked questions. That was really nice because it showed somebody of her stature and status as human as well.”
Some royal observers say that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have more in common than previously thought. Both women using very different language and venue, have expressed their pain of not fitting in the Royal Family — the difference is that one stayed and the other opted to find happiness in her country.
