It seems that every time Prince Harry takes one step forward with his father, King Charles III, to repair their relationship; he immediately drops an accusation or revelation, which results in him taking three steps backward.
After sitting down with Oprah Winfrey for the bombshell interview, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, knew they went too far and were hit with remorse.
Their remorse turned into painful guilt because Prince Philip passed away not too long after the historic interview had been seen by millions all over the world.
Prince Harry decided to fly to London alone to attend his grandfather’s funeral. Before doing so, the former soldier “was forced” to write a deeply personal letter to his father.
According to the source, who spoke to The Mirror, the Duke of Sussex understood it was necessary to pen the note because their relationship “hit rock bottom” and there was a “complete communication breakdown.”
Prince Harry wanted to clear the air before returning to the UK for the somber event. The author also wanted to explain himself before being face-to-face with the family members, including Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Queen Camilla, whose reputations he destroyed during the interview.
The person familiar with the situation explained that the Duke of Sussex, via his correspondence with King Charles, “outlined his reasons for leaving” while promising to “respect the institution.”
The family friend went on to reveal: “He wrote a deeply personal note to his dad to try and set things straight, but tensions are still running high and things haven’t exactly ironed out the way he had hoped. There had been a kind of unspoken agreement between everyone to park whatever has been on each person’s mind, and solely concentrate on supporting the Queen ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral.”
However, King Charles, was “very hurt” by Prince Harry’s decision to give a major tell-all interview while the Duke of Edinburgh, 99, was seriously ill in hospital.
It appears that King Charles did not respond to the letter because it was not the time to focus on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s long list of grievances.
The family was mourning and paying tribute to the late patriarch. The source went on to reveal to the publication: “The feeling inside the camp was that it wasn’t the time nor the place to go over things, especially at such an emotional time for everybody involved.”
Despite his double pain — the loss of his father and the betrayal of his son — King Charles made plans to see and talk to Prince Harry after the funeral, but that did not go as planned.
One palace insider said: “Charles was hoping to see his son again after Philip’s funeral, but Harry told him he wasn’t sticking around.”
During the interview, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the sensational claim that a member of the Royal Family asked a racist question about how “dark” their unborn children would be.
Markle confessed: “In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, we had in tandem the conversation that he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
Meghan Markle revealed that the Royal Family refused to help her when she was feeling suicidal. She said: “I was ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry. But I knew that if I didn’t say it, then I would do it.”
The former actress added: “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. That was a clear, real, frightening, and constant thought.”
Prince Harry told the TV host that King Charles had stopped talking to him. He revealed: “When we were in Canada, I had three conversations with my grandmother and two conversations with my father before he stopped taking my calls.”
The pair broke their promise to respect the monarchy and royals by dropping more truth bombs in interviews, docuseries, and the book Spare.
