Prince Harry and his spouse, Meghan Markle, moved to California to get away from the Royal Family, and King Charles III has decided to give them some help in that department.
This was a week of reckoning for the Montecito couple. King Charles publicly revealed by his actions that he will go to great lengths to further dissociate from Prince Harry and his spouse.
The website for the Royal Family was updated this week, and it was impossible to miss the message that King Charles is sending: the less he is exposed to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the merrier.
Less than 48 hours after Express asked why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were still being referenced with their “HRH” titles, the Royal Family took action.
Prince Harry’s page on the Royal Family’s website received a clean sweep, and all mentions of “His or Her Royal Highness” titles were promptly deleted.
Some royal watchers believe that it is not surprising that King Charles updated the page to reflect the deal that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed after stepping back as working members of the Royal Family to no longer use their titles.
According to others, the Royal Family is taking measures to further erase the Montecito duo from the institution they damaged with their interviews and series.
Royal author Richard Fitzwilliams told Mail Online: “There have been several changes on the royal website, and the Sussexes now appear below the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra.”
He added: “This clearly shows that the royal family is distancing themselves from a couple whom they must, for obvious reasons, regard as unpredictable and unreliable.”
The Daily Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden, a strong supporter of King Charles and the monarchy, had another take on the matter.
He called the move to remove the title from the page petty and small. Eden shared: “Buckingham Palace’s decision to quietly cut Prince Harry’s HRH title from his website profile page last week was a petty and trivial move that avoids the big changes that really need to be made.”
He went on to ask that King Charles remove Prince Harry from the line of succession.
He added: “They should be going much further he tells the program. What actually matters is that he’s still in the line of succession. God forbid if something was to happen to the Royal Family, he would become our king. That should end, he should be removed from the line of succession and he is still one of those counselors of state that can stand in for the king… why not remove him? It’s ridiculous to be doing petty things to the website – deal with the big things and make the big changes that matter.”
This royal saga will have more twists.
