Recently, there has been a lot of movement in the Church of Scientology, and it is not in a positive direction.
Over the summer, it was confirmed that the controversial church was getting sued by its biggest whistleblower, Leah Remini.
A new report has surfaced via The Mirror explaining that the religion’s biggest star is taking a step back. In the past three years, the action star has been busy filming hit movies in England.
Tom Cruise has made several surprising appearances at events related to the Royal Family. Cruise befriended Queen Elizabeth II before her passing, and he was featured at her Platinum Jubilee.
The Hollywood legend has close ties with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
It seems that while Tom Cruise was bonding with the Royal Family, he was walking away or pulling back from the Church of Scientology.
It appears that Mr. Cruise has not visited headquarters in East Grinstead in several years, “sparking speculation he’s quit the controversial religion.”
The Mirror noted: “It was claimed in 2021 that Tom was ‘drifting away’ from Scientology after years of being the poster boy for the religion. New reports that the Top Gun actor has been absent from one of their most famous UK bases over the last three years have further fuelled speculation about Tom’s relationship with the church.”
Some observers point to the fact that in past years, the Church of Scientology has been dealt several massive blows because of the revelations and accusations made by former members — the most notable being Leah Remini.
The actress left the religious institution over ten years ago, and every day since, she has been exposing her truths and calling out their actions.
Via books, interviews, series, and a podcast, Leah Remini has shared the ins and out of the Church of Scientology and now she is taking legal action against the Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige.
In her lawsuit, Leah Remini claimed that she has been harassed, stalked, defamed, and faced “intentional infliction of emotional distress and intentional interference with prospective economic advantage.”
According to the court documents, the actress stated: “For the past ten years, Ms. Remini has been stalked, surveilled, harassed, threatened, intimidated, and moreover, has been the victim of intentional malicious and fraudulent rumors via hundreds of Scientology-controlled and -coordinated social media accounts that exist solely to intimidate and spread misinformation.”
The complaint also claimed: “Defendants have caused Ms. Remini significant and ongoing economic harm and have forced her to endure a new but never-normal life in which Scientology’s surveillance, abuse, and lies are the punishing, inescapable, daily cost of exercising her First Amendment right and moral duty to speak out about Scientology’s conduct.”
After these major blows from Cruise and Remini, it is not known how the controversial church will bounce back.
