The New York trip for Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, was a major success by most accounts.
The Montecito royals held their first in-person event put together by their Archewell Foundation which was focused on mental health. The couple invited numerous parents to the mental health summit.
Markle looked ravishing at the event as she spoke about the dangers of social media, especially for young children. With Prince Harry by her side, Markle became emotional as she explained that she was afraid for Archie and Lilibet.
The former actress explained: “But I will say I feel fortunate that our children are at an age, again quite young, so this isn’t in our immediate future, but I also feel frightened by how it’s continuing to change and this will be in front of us. They say being a parent – the days are long, but the years are short. So it worries me, but I’m also given a lot of hope and a lot of energy by the progress we’ve made in the past year.”
That same day, which was World Mental Health Day, Prince William and Kate Middleton took part in an event centered around youth mental well-being.
Middleton also dazzled in a cream outfit and delivered a speech about the importance of young people getting proper access to mental health care.
A group of royal experts sat down on Palace Confidential to talk about how the events in London and New York showed how far apart the brothers have grown.
They also asked the big question: will it ever be possible to reconcile one day? Host Jo Elvin asked royal journalist Rebecca English to share what she knew about the brothers ever reconnecting again.
Elvin said: “Some people have been pointing out why this week in particular was another time when the gap between William and Harry was shown to be at its furthest ever. Yeah, I think what people are referring to is again Tuesday, World Mental Health Day, when both William and the Princess of Wales and Harry and Megan conducted engagements. But one was in New York and the others were in Birmingham. And I think what struck people was that William, Kate, and Harry started that amazing heads together campaign, which I think even their harshest critics must acknowledge went a huge way to changing the nation.”
She went on to say: “BBC’s Royal veteran veteran Royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell who said he believed there would be a reconciliation with William eventually and that he was sure that their father would fervently hope they would, what did you make of that.”
English responded with some unhappy news for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The author revealed that in the past, sources close to Prince William said that a reconciliation was possible.
However, since the publication of Spare, Prince William has made the decision he does not want to see or talk with his brother.
The commentator stated: “I think any family would fervently hope that rifts will be mended; no father wants to see his sons at loggerheads but I would caution that when this all first happened, people I know who were very well plumbed into the situation said to me.”
It seems that Prince William and Kate Middleton are saying the same thing: a reconciliation will certainly not happen in the near future.
The author added: “I can’t believe there’s not a time these brothers won’t ever speak again; they’ve just been through too much, and they’ve been too close, despite what Harry said in his memoir. Um, and those people are not saying the same things now I have to say, and it suggests that if it were to happen one day, we’re talking about a long time from now I have to say and it’s a real shame.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle worked hard for this event to be a success.
