There was a time when Prince Harry and Prince William shared a brotherly bond and love.
In photos and videos of what appeared to be an idyllic childhood, the heir and his sibling looked adorable in matching outfits and seemed like each other’s best friends.
A lot has happened since those happy days. Prince Harry and the future King have been feuding for more than four years.
Prince Harry’s decision to marry Meghan Markle, followed by their decision to leave the Royal Family and move to California, have created a mountain of issues for the brothers.
A new feud has arisen this month because of Netflix. Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have a lucrative deal with the streaming giant.
Netflix also airs the very popular series The Crown, and in the last season, writers decided that the late Princess Diana would be featured as a ghost.
Many are disgusted by that decision. Members of the Royal Family do not talk to the media, but Prince William slightly broke the rules by having a friend share his hurt feelings on this sensitive matter.
A person with ties to Prince William spoke to The Daily Beast to say that he is appalled and “sickened” by his mother appearing as a ghost in the series.
The friend added: “It’s incredibly hurtful to have his mother exploited over and over again in this tawdry fashion by Netflix. He won’t watch it, but he will be totally sickened by it.”
The pal was asked if Prince William is angry with Prince Harry’s decision to continue to work with Netflix.
The family friend claimed it was just another reason for the heir to be angry and disappointed in the spare, and added: “William is angry about a lot of things in connection with his brother. His decision to work with Netflix, who have ruthlessly exploited the family, is certainly one of them.”
The episode features the ghost of Diana, Princess of Wales, telling King Charles III: “Thank you for how you were in the hospital. So raw, broken – and handsome. I’ll take that with me. You know I loved you so much. So deeply, so painfully, too. That’s over now. It will be easier for everyone with me gone.”
A person close to the Royal Family told the Daily Mail that the latest installment is “considered in poor taste, particularly as deeply painful memories for members of the family are reduced to sensationalism.”
One source told the publication that it seemed the makers had “jumped the shark.” The two brothers are not getting closer to a reconciliation.
