However, the former president is in the race for the White House and has a comfortable lead in all major polls.
Along with fighting with all his might to avoid going to prison, Donald Trump is also working hard to find the perfect VP who will help get him to the Promised Land: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The list of potential vice presidents is like Trump’s mood: it is complex and forever changing. It includes politicians, business people, a handful of celebrities, and the name of his daughter, Ivanka Trump.
For a very long time, it looked like former UN Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem were the favorites for the high-profile job.
However, a recent cheating scandal has all but certainly knocked Kristi Noem off that list. Multiple sources told The Post and The Daily Mail that married Republican had an affair with longtime Donald Trump adviser, Corey Lewandowski, that lasted several years.
One person with ties to the political world told the media outlet that the steamy affair has been an open secret in the Republican Party.
The insider claimed Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski had no shame in showing each other affection during public events. The pair had a heavy make-out session at a hotel bar during the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida, in front of 200 people.
The eyewitness said: “I remember it being so absurdly blatant and public. It wasn’t like 2 a.m. It isn’t like we caught them at some dive bar miles away. Furthermore, it’s a lobby bar where everyone is staying and so there’s a bazillion political operatives and journalists and electeds around. I remember seeing it with my own eyes, and a couple of other people saw it, and the bluntness was absurd.”
The person added: “This has been a known, open thing, and we’ve all been waiting for it to blow up at some point.”
Another insider crudely told the Daily Mail: “He’s 100% banging her. I saw Noem sitting on his [Lewandowski’s] lap and playing grab-ass during an event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in December 2020. The usual stuff that drunk people who are having affairs do. I saw her on his lap. I thought they were a couple. They were all over each other.”
According to The Post, careless whispers of the affair have been spreading in Republican political circles for “years.”
The embarrassing whispers landed in Noem’s husband, Bryon‘s ears, and he moved out of the governor’s mansion in Pierre roughly two years ago.
The Post revealed that Noem’s dirty secret was leaked to the media by “one of her competitors for VP.”
Trump is thinking of having one of these people — former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), former ambassador to Germany Ric Grenell, House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY), current GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and hard-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga)– as his potential running mate.
