It seems that Meghan Markle was hoping to follow in her husband’s footsteps towards major fame, success, and recognition and secure a place in the history books.
With the memoir Spare, Prince Harry was able to accomplish his wildest dreams and goals. The path was set for his wife, who was going to tell her story.
Her complex and heartbreaking childhood in California, coming from a broken home, parents of different races, and estrangement from her paternal family.
Working her way up the social ladder and making it as a TV star, she eventually married Prince Harry, becoming one of the most famous women in the world.
Of course, the book would have been a bestseller because the publishing company and the readers expected juicy and sordid details about her short stint as a working member of the Royal Family.
To have a bestseller, Markle would need to go further than Prince Harry with her shocking accusations and bombshell revelations. However, Prince Harry has said not so fast.
Prince Harry was fine with the idea of him destroying King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton, and especially Prince William — but he has vetoed the idea of Markle destroying the shred of privacy that his family has left.
A source spoke to New magazine, to explain that Markle was not too happy about Prince Harry’s decision to put an end to her hope of becoming a bestselling author.
The person in the know shared: “Harry has openly spoken about having enough material to write a follow-up to Spare, but those plans have been scrapped. He’s also put an end to Meghan’s book. The move didn’t go down well with Meghan and caused some friction.”
According to the insider, Prince Harry stepped on Markle’s plans because he is hopeful about mending his relationship with Prince William and King Charles, especially after the health scare.
The person stated: “However, the couple are said to be looking at ways they can mend their broken relationship with the Royal Family and so reached a compromise on Meghan’s book.”
The source explained that the pair decided to have Markle write an empowering book that would focus on brave women.
The insider claimed: “They eventually compromised so that Meghan could work on a book about female empowerment. Meghan’s book will focus on her work championing women, instead of taking fresh swipes at the Royal Family.”
The Duchess of Sussex has a long history of feminism — for example, at just 11 years of age, she called out a sexist advert. Later on, she chose to be part of the UN Women’s Conference.
